Does a test pipe really make it THAT much louder?

depends on the cops in your area, are they total up tight by the book, Do you see alot of trucks, mustangs, camaros, etc getting ticketed for being to loud. I have a test pipe with tbe and am not louder than those with cat back exhaust or just muffelers for that matter. if you dont have to pass inspection yearly go for it.

depends on which exhaust you get. i have a dc dp and a hks hi power and the only time its at all louder is at wot. little deeper at idle but compared to other cars mine is pretty quiet. my buddy has an sti with cobb tbe, went from cat to test pipe and made it louder but again pretty much only at wot. although his drones bad on the highway. i dd my car and dont get any attention unless i get on it, which obviously you wouldnt do near a cop, and if one saw u, test pipe or not youd be in trouble. just depends on your emissions situation. i say go for it, good bang for the buck as others have said, and u can always swap the cat back in for yearly emissions.

I think I'm going to go for it. We don't have emissions here and inspection isn't really an issue either. I'll just be a little more careful around the cops haha.

I had a test pipe on my last car (SRT-4). Yes it is loud. Neighbor commented on it (not being mean since he's a car guy too). Every time I saw a cop I prayed I wouldn't get pulled over since I knew it was loud. It wasn't ungodly loud but it's still loud enough to where they will make up some BS ticket or excuse to pull me over. I plan to start modding my car within a year or so after I make sure my job is still secured but it's not worth the trouble, imo. More so since I have to travel through some small towns to work.

I am not so much sure that when I went from my BR cat to a test pipe that it got LOUDER -- so much do I think it changed the tone to a deeper one.
