hks 264 cams??

after i bought my evo i took the motor right out and did a full build except for the head wich was already done all though i did send it to a machine shop to be gone over and check for any issues. im running an hta86 on my new build and i thought there were 272 s in it but i just spoke witht the old owner and he said there 264S??? is this going to be very bad for my motor or am i just not going to see as much top end power and more low end tourque! to make a long story short i cant afford to purchase new cams so theylll have too do!

If you can't afford to buy a new set then why are you even asking? I don't see why it would actually hurt the motor, but no it won't be able to breath like it should.

Oh alright, no, it wouldn't physically hurt anything. It's just probably going to choke it up a little bit more than it would be otherwise.

Lets try this, when and if you do upfgrade cams you will likely see a bigger gain in HP when you do.

Post those up for sale and get a set of GSC S2 or Kelford 272 Cams. The cams you have won't hurt anything, you just won't make the power you could be making.

Thanks,

Michael

Unless you want more low end power... Then keep the 264s or get GSC S1s. 272s aren't the end-all-be-all of cams... there's a reason the others are still made.

Most guys with the HTA3586 seem to want the top end power, that's why they went with the HTA3586(750whp) over the HTA3582(600whp) - If they wanted better spool and power under 600whp the HTA3582 would have been the way to go.

Thanks,

Michael

Your best bet is the kelford 272.
