whats really needed for 450hp?
This has been a very informative thread since I am also planning on going for a similar 93oct setup with the fp black. How much did that ppi mani run ya? A lot of people have been telling me to get the MAP Rev2.
Not sure if some of you have seen this since this thread went quiet for awhile, but 450 on pump is definitely doable on the black: red v black. With S2s instead of M2s (early 2010) and an open dump like Mikey's (I need to get off my *** but other things have been coming up), I would conservatively say you'd be in the 480-490whp range on pump, if not topping 500whp.

the manifold ran me 350.00 without core, so I can sell my core for around 100 if im lucky. I wanted the swain tech coating. Yes it seems that 450 on pump gas is to be doable but every car and tuner is different, so we will see what happend at the end of this month. In the red vs black on pump gas, the kelford 272 should out perform the s2 cams.
I think the Kelford vs the S2's will be pretty close, assuming the latest versions of S2's. I'm not as up to date on Kelfords but I know that Greg continually improves his cams. I think I read he has gone through 10 interations of the S2s at this point.
Either way, you should be good. Agreed on every car and tuner being different; I always assume that I got a less potent build.
We are very cold up here right now too, so power is hitting well. It wasn't nearly as cold when the red v black comparison was done, though, I think in the low 50's or so.

Yea here is SC its been around 50s, so we will have to see how much it affects it. I am really hoping to pull it off with 93 oct, and then put some e85 in and really see what it can do

Interesting...I have been reading some things regarding 50/50 mix vs 100%. Seems that running 100% has a greater detrimental effect on certain components vs running a 50/50mix. I hear with good methanol (ie VP) the power differences are also small to say the least. I am curious about if this holds any truth...have you tried testing this?
^Methanol can find weaknesses in the setup, as it is viscous liquid, moreso than water, and corrosive. From what I know, it is best to keep things cycling regularly so there is less tendency for the methanol to "sit" and find a weakness; which sucks cause my car has been sitting since last Thursday night!
When you ask about the testing, do you mean good methanol vs another brand? I'm currently running VP cause I got a real good deal. I previously ran a couple gallons of something I got from a local shop, and I don't think it was VP. I didn't see any issues between the 2, or feel any change in power.
BTW - as for the MAP sensor, it is located on the bottom side of the IM so it sounds like unburnt meth in the IM would occasionally come to rest on the sensor, which sounds like the culprit. Otherwise, Aaron hadn't heard of anything like this before. The fix is to get a bit more slack on the vacuum line so that the sensor can be moved enough away from being a low point, IIRC. Hopefully I'll see tomorrow and the car will be up and running.
Back on topic, kind of - I'll siphon the 50/50 mix in there now and put in 100% and crank up the timing/boost. Hopefully she'll put down somewhere in the 520's!

I have a tune scheduled for Dec 21st. With my current mod list -- I will let you know exactly what I put down on Buschurs Dyno.
Realistically -- 425 would be hot **** for me..
440+ and I am going to be one happy sob.
Fuel will be shell 93 only, and it will be a single 255, with 950s. =)

I assume you guys are talking Dynojet numbers. A single Walbro will run out around 420 on the local DD. You'll run out of pump before you max 1000cc injectors on E85.

jk good luck with that. I should be home on the 23rd and my evo will be going back in the shop. I can't let you beat me...
Mikey
^you are 3x the meth-head that I am! HAHAHA! I really want to see what that O2 will net me too!
Interesting to note that with no change other than going from 50/50 mix to 100% methanol and tuning it appropriately, my car picked up ~20whp and ~33lb-ft. It was a different day of course, but it has been cold in the NW since my last dyno run on December 1st.

MAP sensor got corroded by meth. New one should be in tomorrow.
