Either Evo 8/9/10 Please HELP!?

Hi, my names Nick from central Jersey and im pretty new to evos and I am in love with them after driving all current U.S spec evos. I dident releize what i was missing out on until i felt the thrill after driving them Anyway i have a few questions before i purchase one.

1. Which Gen. Evo (8,9,10) would you recommend if i want to eventually build the Evo for a fast drag/Daily Driver car?

2. Which year is the most reliable for a DD. use and have mods done to it at the same time(400awhp+)?

3. How much and what yearly maintenance is needed to keep the Evos running strong for many miles?

Any other comments and info you want to throw out would be nice also since im new to Evos.

Please Help Me Decide
Thanks

I've driven the viii, own the ix, but have never driven the x.
So i dont have a driving opinion of the x, but def prefer ix over the viii, stock vs stock anyways.

Thanks for the opinion the ix is what i was leaning towards getting anyway.
What does it cost you to maintain it? And what maintance do you do to your IX?

Thanks

Get the IX, it is the final version of the legendary 4G63 platform and has had all the bugs worked out.

Ok, i will take your word for in and go with the IX.
But, would you prefer the 6-speed Mr or the 5-speed IX?

Ive heard many people tell me to go with the 5-speed because they say its stronger and can produce more power than the 6-speed tranny.
Is that true?

1. A IX with the 5-speed would be your best bet for a daily driven car for the strip. It responds to mods better than an VIII, plus it's a lot lighter than the X is, which plays a role in acceleration.

2. Generally speaking, the X is the easiest to live with on a day-to-day basis. Combine that with the 4B11's surprisingly beneficial response to mods, and you can make a powerful daily driver.

3. Following the maintenance schedule of the car does the trick.

Thanks, very helpful info.
I think i have it narrowed down to an evo ix or evo x with the 5-speed.
Any more info would be nice about mods to power for the both engines ( how each car responses to same mod; lets say a gt35r turbo upgrade). Which evo the ix or x would make more power? And reliably?

If you plan to make it a drag car and daily driver I would go with the Evo ix over the X. The X is a great daily driver but very heavy compaired to the earlier models. The 8's and 9's are easier to mod and respond much better then the X's as of now. If you were to run a 35R kit putting it on a 9 would be best you can do. The Shop I go to has a very different fast evo's. One that comes to mind is a 9 with a BR 2.3L and stage 3 head and I'm not sure what turbo kit it's running but the car was just retuned on pump gas made 680 at 32psi.

Oh welcome to the boards Nick. I'm always in the area my brother-in-law lives Marlboro so I'm always in the area driving down route 9 or 18

Hard to say really.. the 9 has had more testing and tuning and has proven itself over and over again. The x is a great car but im not really sure if its going to be the same.

If I could do it all over again I would have my mods in a EVO 9 and buy a EVO X MR for the DD.

Thanks for the advice.
I think i am going to go with an Evo 9, after hearing some opions ive concluded that i will get an ix.
Now all i have to do is get some money together and find a clean one to pick up
Maybe ill see you driving around on 9 or 18. I currently drive a 1999 White 3000gt. Ill look out for you.
