New 2 Evo & site!
I have been looking at getting an STI for a while and finaly went to the dealership to look at them and go for a test drive on Valentines Day. I never paid a lot of attention to the Evo but i don't really like the look of the new STI's. Well the guy at the dealership wouldn't let the wife and i test drive the Sti's. He said kids just come in and joy ride them so until you sign papers no test drive. So i said peace and cruzed over the Mitsu to check out the Evo's. I had never seen one in person and i was in love! Was looking at the new ones when the sales guy comes out and shows us a '08 with 1600 miles on it. Let me test drive it without even checking to see if i had a drivers license. Not like it matured, i knew i was taking it home when he pulled it out of the spot.
I am loving the car and am so happy i didn't get an STI. I see them all over and i still haven't seen an X yet. A couple 8's and 9's but no X's. I wanted to keep it stock but i am already looking at modding it. Probibly just a Cobb stage 1 and axle back for better sound.

It has snowed a lot since i got the car and it amazes me how well it handles in the snow! Even with the stock Advens.

Ya, it sucks. I work out of town so my wife has been driving it all week and i have to wait until the weekends to drive it. We bought it for me DAMN IT! But when i get home friday nights i can't wait to drive it.
So ya, i'd say i'm addicted.

Snows gone now but it went quite well with the stock Advans. I was cautious when i needed to be. We were driving through the Sierra's and just a little before the pic in my first post was taken, i let off the throttle to much and the rear started to come around (at about 55mph). I could not steer into it at first because there was a car next to us so i had to let it slide for a second until i got the X over a little more to the right away from the other car. Then i steered into it and eased on the throttle and it was perfect. It felt like i could make the car do what ever i wanted. The AWD system is absolutely amazing. I was never freaked out just calm and felt so in control.
I have had quite a few trucks but this is my first car other than a 66 Bug with a 5" narrowed beam and sitting on the ground so i had no idea what too expect. I am really enjoying how fast it is and even more how fast it stops and how great it handles. I had never heard of AutoX until the other day so now i am really looking forward to trying that out. It will be nice to Legally drive the car how it was meant to be driven.
I had the same experience when I bought my STi, the sales guy saying they just did not demo them. I drove a WRX, but he balked at the STi. I eventually said i wasn't buying a car until my wife drove the STi, as it was her I was worried about, and he said OK. It was a low speed drive, which kept him happy.
I bought an 07 STi in preference to an 08, which was available at the same price, as I just could not warm to the looks of the 08.
On the other hand, now that I am in the market again, I simply cannot find an Evo within 100 miles of where I live, so cannot even see one. Still haven't warmed to the look of the STi, nor if am honest to the Evo. Better than the STi though.
Enjoy the X. I hope to join the club SOON!
