Oil Filter Dent Issue

I just changed my oil in the EVO and I could not find a the proper size oil filter wrench for the OEM filter so I had to use one of those sh*tty universal filter wrench and I slighty dented the filter from tightening. Will this be a potential issue. (the indent is not that big)..... I'm just paranoid

I use a universal filter wrench every time and have never had a problem. How did you dent it? Over tightening? Provided it isn't too big of a dent, and there are no cracks, leaks, etc.

Depending on how big the dent is it may or may not be an issue. Next time just hand tighten it. There is no need to use a tool to tighten the oil filter. The filter it really easy to access by hand.

Like mentioned above, you should always hand tighten, no tools. Wearing latex gloves or a piece or sandpaper will give you more grip. Every oil filter will say hand tighten until gasket touches + X turn. Usually it's an extra 3/4 turn after the gasket makes contact. I've never had an issue hand tightening.

You shouldn't be using a wrench. Take a paper towel, spray it with degreaser, and then wipe the filter which will remove all the oil residue on it. Then you can get good grip on the filter and just tighten it as tight as you can make it with your hand.

You shouldnt be using a wrench to tighten it, Only to remove it.

I had that happen once, it turned out the gasket from the other filter got stuck on the housing so when I screwed on the new filter, there were 2 gaskets on there, the old one and the one thats on the new oil filter. Did you check that ?
