Some warranty questions

Nice site people, nice and informative. I will be picking up my Evo in about 2 weeks and have some questions that the idiot dealer is not clear on. The dealership I am dealing with sells AMS products and will allow me to put on the cat-back with no warranty problems. Heres the real problem, I also wanted them to put on the FMIC also but when the new-car sales mgr found out about that he came running over and said that will void the warranty. What do you think I should do? Just purchase the FMIC and put it on myself and if there are any problems down the road just switch back????? They also said any remapping of the fuel curves or anything like that will also void it. Well hopefully some one out there can help me out.

Hope to start meeting some of you WI people out there!!!!!!!!!!

They sell both the cat-back and the FMIC, but will not let you purchase and install the FM due to warrenty issue's??? Thats BS if you ask me.

Im sure messing with the fuel settings (SAFC) would void the warrenty. (but worth it :-)

It does not make sense about the FMIC though, especially if they sell it. As far as switching them, its not really to hard, although I have not seen the AMS intercooler, most replacements require some work, bumper triming, new bigger piping, etc......So you could switch them out, just would take time.

Welcome to the board! And congrats on your Evo

O ya.....if your worried about your warranty, buy the FMIC somewhere else, and due the install yourself. Don't buy it from the dealership, because they will have it on record. And im sure there is like 150% mark up there.

Actually the prices were actually pretty reasonable. If memory serves(paperwork to far away to reach...lol) the exhaust was 590 and the FMIC was right around 800. These prices were not installed, nor will I have a dealership work on any of my cars. Way too many bad experiences especially with my Z, just to name one. I had my car in for a regular oil change and they gave me a rental for the day so I could go to work and back. Yes I am one of those **** people that write down the milage before the car is dropped off, to make a long story short my Z had 97 extra oil change miles on it when I got it back. As pissed as I was I went up to the owner and asked if there was anything he could do and the jackass wanted to try and sell me a new 350Z WTF?!?!? So, I have been boycotting this dealer to all Z owners around SE WI.

But enough with nissan with all you DSM fans in here. Just glad to be a part of another forum where 99.9% of people seem to get along.
