If you use kevlar make SURE to follow the break in procedure. If you fubar a kevlar clutch intially it will never fix itself. It isnt like a pucked clutch where severe slipping helps it break in. 500-1000 miles of regular driving before you go to full power.

kevlar friction material. smoother than stock to drive. holds more power. lasts longer than stock friction material. shifts about like stock. stock type lockout. when disc wears out simply install new disc and you are ready to go again. kevlar doesnt wear out metal. it just polishes it. best friction material on the market.
had a car here with 2.3/35r that was using this clutch. held 520whp but I dont remember tq numbers. likely around 475ish tq.

I am at 340 awhp, and my stock replacement has held up fine. When my stock clutch started slipping, I resurfaced the flywheel, and replaced an exedy stock replacement disc only. Used the same pressure plate. It grabs great and I have no issues.

For what you want and do, the best clutch that is easy to drive on and will hold your power, I would go with the ACT MB7-HDSS.

^this. i have the same clutch around the same power. aiming for higher power so i got the stage 3. drives smoother than stock, when it gets hot out it shifts like butter. kevlar is awesome for clutches and no high RPM lockout. highly recommend this as it is relatively inexpensive too.

call jsc speed, ask for mike tell him ryan with the black evo told you to call. theyll have a good deal for you.

be interested in hearing more about simply replacing the disks, how hard it is, how expensive, and do you have to order directly from CM? thanks 94awdcoupe

Exedy trible carbon is the answer. Go with the best if you love your car.

This was my first thought, but if you're set on changing the exedy single is a good clutch for DD and road race at that power level.

I have the ACT-MB7-HDSS. Installed it last Feb and was at 400whp/400wtq. The car is a daily driver plus I did over 40 passes at the drag strip last year. I love the clutch. Feels very stock like but grabs great and can handle a lot of abuse. Still going strong.

I'm on stock turbo so I only rev to 7500 and have NO lock out issues.

I hate it when people post crap like this ^^^

I bet this guy never had experience with this clutch before. The Exedy triple carbon is for +600whp. If I were you ill just get the Act Hdss.

the exedy carbon clutches suck. there are countless threads of premature wear. like burning them up on first track visit. or slipping far sooner than their tq rating suggests.

the ATS (carbonetics) carbon is leaps and bounds better carbon clutch. there are countless rave reviews on the forums about this clutch. even the twin is impressive.

carbon clutches are expensive. not at all what OP needs for his HP goals.
