What clutch kit for 330whp daily driven EVO VIII?
I am in the process of looking at changing my clutch kit as well as the flywheel due to it is almost done. I am looking at the combination of exedy stage 1 clutch kit along with ACT streetlite flywheel for my e4. The thing is instead of putting back an e4 clutch and flywheel i wanted to get the e8/9 exedy clutch and ACT streetlite flywheel. My questions are:
- will that combination fit my e4?
- is it a good combination?
I don't really want the harsh driving conditions just want something abit better than stock, my e4 is lightly modded.
This is the clutch kit i am looking at.
Exedy stage 1 organic clutch kit PN: 05803 or MKB1001
This is the flywheel.
ACT streetlite performance flywheel PN: 600205
guys/gals i would appreciate all your views.
thanks much.

I would suggest an OEM clutch for the op's car.. I wouldnt even get an ACT MB7HDSS (I have one personally).
He mentioned he's not modding the car, ever, so theres no reason to get a clutch that can handle 500ft/lb.. Spend the $315 or so and get an OEM and spend the extra money you would have spent on a more expensive clutch on a lighter flywheel.

Do not listen to this man. This is by far the worst clutch in history, yes, from personal experience. You can search under my user name to see my thread on it as I do not need to elaborate on that here.
For a daily driven Evo with low-mid 300 whp range, you recommend a chattering 4-puck clutch?
My input:
The Exedy Twin is easy on the gears/synchros, its rebuildable, and it works. Period. If you plan on keeping the Evo a while, it is by long and far the best investment.
Stock is also easy on the synchros, gears, etc., and the wallet. Also a smart choice.
ACT is not easy on the transmission, nor is any other ridiculous single disk stage 9000 clutch. Will it work? Sure, for a while, until it wears your synchros to nothing, falls apart in the bell housing (also search under my name for this thread), or you can have lockout issues, which admittedly, I didn't have with my ACT. You can call Shepard Transmission and ask him what clutches like ACT do to Evo transmissions. His response will be exactly the same mine: Stay away.

I recommend an ACT street/strip disc for the horsepower range you have at the current time.
