Ok so, I want to get it by 21-22... but I want to know "8f I go into the military will I get enough moeny for one? 28K... like will I make enough to pay for the bills... ( and still have a reasonably amount of $$$ for insurance and everything I need???? Or would it be better to just go to community college then work at a dealership???

I'm not sure about the entire military thing... so if anyone that has been in the military please tell me how the money this works and how much and when do I get the money?

If you really wanna go into the military, do a couple years of college and go to OCS.

Otherwise, if you go on the enlisted side then you will get a bonus which can still get up to 20k i think. ( maybe 30k) You have to pay attn to the MOS (job) though because some wont offer the big bonuses. I have to check and see what MOS's are giving the big bonuses and I'll try to get back at you

You can afford it as a private in the military, but you will be tight on money. I am a staff sergeant and I still sometimes wish I had a cheaper car. And my car is far from brand new. Just be smart in what you decide. When I joined the military 8 years ago, I just bought an 03 civic ex and lived comfortable enough to modify that car.

As far as the money in the military is concerned, it all depends on your rank. I for one think the soldiers in the service are under paid. I know the pay is alot better then when I first joined. But like someone above me said, go to school, then go OCS and come in as an officer. I for one love the enlisted side. But more money on the officer side. I will be happy when I start making my E7 pay. Then I will go out and purchase a second Evo.

Joining the military is a big decisions. Before you even go talk to a recruiter, be sure that this is what you want to do. Half the kids that join the service now seem to still be breast feeding, and the second they are told they are going to Iraq or Afghanistan, they suddenly play the crazy card and try and get out, in which they screw up their lives from there. If you do decide to join, be a Combat Engineer and hope you come see me when you go to basic training. I will be your favorite Drill Sergeant lol haha.

Well since you're only 16 you still got some time left. I joined in 06 and got a IX in 09, so if you join in 2 years and serve about 3 years, you should be able to get a 2010 X without too much trouble. However I'm single and don't have any mouths to feed other than my own. It might be a bit hard to to plan out details, you never know, you might get a girl knocked up in the next few years and then its game over for you. If you're seriously looking into the military, I would advise you join because you want to serve and not solely for a paycheck to get an Evo. I'm not telling you what you can or can't or should or shouldn't do, I'm just giving you a heads up because if the only reason you want to join is for an Evo you could end up hating life.

Military is a very VERY secure job (so long as you dont screw up...which is hard might i add). If you enlist yes pay bonus, however Im going through college with it payed for with my service in the Air Guard. While im in college also attending ROTC for a much larger pay in the services out of college.

If you're taking the big step of getting the Evo, secure all your finances so you dont end up in debt without a paddle remember Evo 8's are around 15k used still

Best of luck to ya though!! Having an Evo just makes life=life

by the time you save up some money the cost of the car should go down just a little. also if your in high school go do at least 3 years in rotc so that way if you go right after high school you can be at least the rank of a pfc. but your best bet save then go to bct save that money and you should have a good down payment also don't take the MOS with the big bonus because those are the jobs that really need people which usually means you may or may not like that job so much, research it first. you can always go to college then join to go to OCS but you need at least a bachleor's degree to go into OCS. but save your money ration it and really think long and hard because you don't want to put a big downpayment on a car then cant afford it and then lose it waste of time and money. also DO NOT AND I REPEAT DO NOT!! finance from the dealership they will rip you off big time you will spend the first few years or more paying off the intrest rate and then the car, you will end up paying almost or around 40k+ for a 28k vehicle.

^Wrong...you can't do a couple of years and go to OCS. You MUST already have completed a 4-year degree.

What you are referring to is the 'degree completion program' and that is only for prior enlisted: must be e-5 SGT and have served I think 5 years.

you can become a Warrant Officer with only a 2 year degree, however, I would HIGHLY advise against it. Reason being is because Warrants are traditionally the technical experts of their field. I don't care how many years you have under your belt in the civilian world...the military is a different ball park.

As a private...yes the potential to save money is there: living in barracks, 3 square meals at the DFAC (Dining Facility), save lots of money during deployments. HOWEVER! (big however), the fact of the matter is that e-4 and below rarely save money (I know there are exceptions, and if someone chimes in about how they saved money while they were in Korea I don't want to hear about it) The fact of the matter is that while 3-5% of junior enlisted may save their money, most get into the habit of going out to eat, partying on the weekends. Also, the $4 spent at the shoppette 2-3 times a day for cigarettes/dip/gatorade/pogey bait, etc adds up over the month.

If you are going to say 'no, I will stay inside and eat of ramen' save it because when you don't conform and go with the flow you are outcasted in the military...it is just part of the training and lifestyle.

I see many privates with cadillacs, new camaro ss, charger SRT-8, etc...they are in so much debt. It's very easy for people to take advantage of Soldiers: dealerships, loan sharks, even AAFESS with their star card. They will hand a brand new private out of AIT (your individual MOS training center) like $2000 credit card and they will go and max it out without noticing the interest is 18%.

Not trying to scare you away from the military, but just know the financial facts. look at the base pay scales. You will not get BAH or BAS, the military is providing you with barracks to live and the meals at the DFAC.

Other than that GL with your decision making.

Ravnos04 is right. The military lifestyle alone costs money. It all boils down to individual discipline. But the second you dont go out, you will deal with other immature soldiers ragging on you. But screw em. But if you are one of those guys who will buckle down, and stay in the Barracks and eat at the DFAC, then cool. I just dont know how long that will last lol. Talk to as many military people as you can and take all the advice you can. Being in the military is fun, but has its down sides. I am getting ready for my fourth deployment, which sucks because it is time away from my wife and kids.

Wait, so your saying being in the military is not a smart idea to do? and i should just do community college and figure out a job elsewhere???

I want to join for ALOT more reasons than just the money but money is one of the biggest! and if i dont enough to save then i probably shouldnt do that... right?

It also depends where your located in the military.... i'm only an E4 in Pennsylvania making 3800 a month... which isnt bad for my age... depends whats open too... theirs just a list of factors us military people can list... but you can cut healthcare and alot of other bills that civilians have that we dont...
