i never owned a evo and been looking on forums for awhile, yesterday i went and bought a used 2008 MR with the tech package. Its been sitting at the dealership about two months now and has been test driven a few times..

Anyways my question is last night when i drove home i smelled a little bit of gas fumes and today at lunch i smelt a lilttle bit of gas is this normal ? i dont know much about cars any feedback would be a great help thanks

Evos do run a bit rich from the factory so that could be part of it. I think the 2008 did have a fuel leak recall issued so it might be wise to ensure that was performed. Did you buy the car from a Mitsu dealer?

 

Is it modified? Possibly running a testpipe?

 

I didnt buy it from a Mitt dealer bought it at carmax and no mods.... it was only for a few seconds it happened twice thought in the last two days.... its going to be my DD with a 6 year loan so i want to make sure i will get my money's worth in reliability ...how long will it last without major problems if i dont go to the track and all ?
