Oil Change Interval and Dealer Service

Yes, Im a noob and yes, I've searched but I cannot find a definitive answer. For a brand new 2011 Evo X what is the official normal oil change interval? I've read 5k miles, 3k miles, and whenever the service light comes on... One of those three has to be right. Lastly, will a DIY oil change or non Mitsubishi dealer oil change lead to a voided warranty? Thanks for the help! I pick up my new Ego this Saturday!!!

Mike

The Mitsubishi site is a good place to search. Here you go:

I think most Evo owners go with the severe maintenance schedule.

Egos are good. Just make sure it doesnt get too big :-P

They cant void warranty for changing the oil yourself. If they expect everyone to go in and get a $120 oil change every 3k or 5k miles they can eat my shorts. The 15k and 30k service I would go to the dealer or if they are special ed like most dealers go to a shop that knows Evos and get a receipt. Also keep receipts for when you buy oil. Just incase. For warranty and for when/if you ever sell the car.

Heh heh... Thanks for the support guys... and I guess Evo and Ego are pretty much interchangeable...

Picked her up Saturday and all the dealer said about oil changes is as long as it is documented by date and mileage and the correct oil is used, Im good to go.

Don't know were ur getting an oil change for $120.00! I bring in my own oil to my dlr and it runs me around $20.00 labor+oil filter/$40.00 when I rotate my tires. It may be time to search for another dlr if they charge those prices!!
