EVO X Vs. RalliArt

Hi all, just wanted to get some feedback here about which vehicle I should get next. I am currently the PROUD owner of a (slow but albeit reliable) 09 ES Lancer. I don't really plan on modding much which is what brings me to this question. Should I get a EVO (I-X) or just settle with the current gen RalliArt? 1 Thing worth mentioning is the fact that I am a 22 year old male and even with my military background I am still paying $130 a month insurance for my current Lancer.

Here's what I know,
The RalliArt's can't really be modded to much due to the SST tranny (also the MR EVO X)
And that's about it...

Which brings me to the next question, should I buy new or used on either vehicle? I have heard many good and bad stories about buying used and new EVO's/RalliArt's but I personally have never bought new before and haven't had any issues yet (knock on wood)

Here's what I've done,
I have driven a non-modded 08 EVO X GSR of a friend and loved it, I am usually very cautious when driving other people's cars and didn't want to drive it hard (especially when "it" is a 35k+ sports car) but he was insistent that I give it gas and see what it felt like to drive. I should also note at this time that my friend's EVO was the first TC vehicle I have driven. Ever since then I have had a love affair with the EVO lol.
I have not driven a RalliArt though due to the fact that most dealers near me don't even keep them in stock and the one's they have are the FULLY loaded models that cost as much as a base priced EVO and there's no way in hell they would let anybody test drive those.

Finally,
As I said I am aware that there isn't much room for modification on anything with the SST tranny (RalliArt) and although I probably wouldn't want to mod anything initially I am sure that eventually I would get bored and want more power.

So in closing
EVO (I-X) or RalliArt
New or Used
If used then should I buy modded or stock
And if new what trim?

Thanks in advance for any and all input fellow members and have a great day.

Decide what your budget is and buy yourself the most car you can. The Evo X is just so much more car over the 8's and 9's, my opinion, mind you. It's worth the little bit of extra money to get a Evo GSR over the Rallislow.

I agree...your going to spend a ton of money just trying to make a Ralliart just as fast as or equal to an Evo. I love my GSR second one. Had and VIII now a X.

The price is a really big issue also, noticing that if bought new, a Fully loaded Ralli Art is just as much as a base model GSR which to me seems like a bit of a rip off honestly. Mitsubishi should really take a good look at their pricing range for the Lancer, Evo line-up.

as much as the RA owners hate it and wont admit it/most of them anyway/ the Evo is different performance level.
For DD the RA i think will egde out the Evo, comfort trunk space etc.

you need to figure it out what you need . If you need all out performance then Evo GSR.
mix dd and performance Evo MR
DD and some great fun Ralliart.

If you can comfortably afford the Evo, go with the Evo. Just bringing a Ralli Art to the performance levels of a stock Evo (not just straight line speed but handling, braking etc...) is going to be fairly costly.

Also, I usually avoid used performance vehicles, but if you thoroughly check out a used Evo/Ralli Art, maybe bring along a friend knowledgeable about them to help you inspect and test drive the car, you could likely find a nice one for a good price. If you are going to buy used, just be very thorough with it, ask any questions you can think of etc...

you really have to drive both. The SST is not the ball-and-chain some people make it out to be. Besides quick shifting, it also holds boost during shifts which can make for a deceptively quick Daily Driver. I'd simply drive both and see what you can do.

I will say this though... you won't find an Evo driver wishing they got a Ralliart... but you can find plenty of Ralliart drivers wishing they got the EVO.
