EVO 8 possible purchase - what to look for

Hello there guys and gals. Tomorrow I will be looking at a Yellow Evolution 8, and after doing some legwork I found some info.

95k
3rd owner is selling
Mods - TBE, UICP/LICP, BOV, TT and rims.

I did some research on the carfax and I have yet to determine if the t-belt/BS belts were changed. The current owner had it since about 78k and said he never changed it.
What things should I look for on EVO's when purchasing. I come from an extensive DSM history so I may just treat it as one, but I want to ask the EVO guru's here!

Thanks a lot to anyone who can provide info and steer me in the right direction! I hope to be posting soon - as a proud new 8 owner!

Unless its really cheap i probably would walk away if there isnt a history of maintenance. With it having 3 owners the element of the unknown can be problematic down the road. Not saying its guaranteed but i would say thats high risk.

yea....he was asking 12,500 but told me he would take 11,500. He needs to get rid of it because he would like to get out of debt, and doesn't want the high insurance and car payment. : (

I figured the EVO's 4g63 would be the same platform as DSM's. Thanks for all the help so far, everyone!

Leak down and compression. Test drive for noises and clutch. Everything can be fixed

Good luck

So we pulled the trigger on this and drove it home to my garage! We got a great deal on it, as well as a myriad of aftermarket parts. I couldn't be happier. After waiting all these years, trolling and drooling over cars on this forum - me and the lady finally have one. Perhaps I'll make a new hello thread with pics. Thanks everyone for the assistance and input! Cheers!
