Water temp gauge not reading properly - bad sensor?
Water temp gauge not reading properly - bad sensor?
I just got my car back after 6 days and now the water temperature gauge isn't reading normally. Before, the needle sat a bit under the half way mark. Now the needle is barely over the lowest line. When I come to a stop the needle will drop slightly and if I give the car gas it will raise a tiny bit and then drop back down. Any ideas?
Thanks!!

I'm starting to think that maybe the 6 days of my car sitting the thermostat got stuck open, causing the car to under heat. Gonna pick up a new one soon and see what happens. Any insight??
I just pulled the thermostat out and tested it by putting into a pot of water and boiling it. The thermostat opened while it was in the water and then started closing when I pulled it out of the water. It's gotta be a bad sensor, right? Or perhaps by some miracle the thermostat actually was stuck and dropping it into the boiling water loosened it back up again. I'm gonna put it back together and after the silicone gasket dries I'll take it around the block and see what happens.
Any more help is appreciated. Thanks!
