2nd to 3rd Problems

Hi,
I got my 2005 evo 8 MR a few months ago and I'm still playing around. Is it normal to be a rough shift from 2nd to 3rd when I aggressively shift? I rarely aggressively shift but when I try I always have a problem between 2nd and 3rd. It seems to get caught and I have to stop for a few seconds before shifting it into 3rd.

does it feel like your hitting a wall with the shifter? Do you know what kind of clutch is in the car? Could be lockout issues common with ACT .

^^^for the most part you'll just have to live with it and 'learn' how to shift it so it doesnt lock out. You could try to adjust the clutch pedal but it probably wont help much.

Yeah some clutch kits have that bull**** lockout. I wondered why they did not have this issue with the hondas. Your best bet go with a kit that doesnt lock out like exedy.

Any clutch suggestions? Exedy seems a bit pricey, at least the one's I was looking at.

I have a ACT and it is beautiful from 2nd to 3rd when I'm punching it but when I'm driving normal sometimes it has a little tinny grind in when I'm up shifting not when I'm downshifting... Any suggestions

Depending on your Hp level and yoru budget if yoru trying to go atleast 300 the exedy stage 1 should help over stock. If your looking into a little more you can do the exedy hd heavyduty and you shoul dbe straight.

Funny, I've just asked the same question with my IX MR completely stock from 2nd to 3rd and basically, its' normal with the notchy feels and the if you do it too fast, you might feel grinding...like something spinning. Someone, pls correctly me if I'm wrong, but I was told the 5spd tranny are made from different manufacturer than the 6spd and the latter is off less quality...

Yea the 6speeds are not as good as the 5 speeds especially if you want to make more power.
