Stay with the true "Evo", not the Hyundai X.

Do it! I couldn't be happier after getting rid of my IX and getting into a X. It's such a better DD. The "it's not as raw as the ix, blah blah blah" statement is played out. More refinement does not equal less raw. My X feels every bit as communicative as my IX did, and it had every suspension bit bolted on short of coilovers. The biggest problem on the X I see is the undersized wheels. Upgrade to some wider stock, put on some springs, and enjoy the ride. They make great power too with very little modification. I have a test pipe, cat back, intake, and a GM 3 port with a tune and it's an animal. They make GREAT torque too. Turbo lag is almost non existent. Mind you my IX had an AMS GT30R turbo kit with FP4r cams and many other bolt ons making 410whp on 93 octane, and I'm still just as satisfied with the power this car makes. Looks are subjective, but the X is much better in this department to IMO. At the very least I would go drive one. I think you'll be pleased.

I am gonna stick with my IX. I just wanted to hear what you guys would say. What's wrong with the X though? Explain why it's not a "True Evo"?

Weight, comfort, safety... blah blah blah. The past evos had less of these things and now, some consider the X to be a less focused evo. But I bet this is the same debate that happened when the Evo VI gave way to the new body style of the Evo VII. I feel if you are not consistently drive the the IX to it's limits, and you are on DD duty, I'd go for the X.

4G63 baby. And the new Evo X looks nothing at all like the previous (9) versions of it. Hey its just my opinion, im sure its nicer inside, quieter, more DD oriented.

Not really going to trade in my IX for a X. Just wanted to hear you guys' opinion. But yeah, here's my IX!

Hey

It sounds like you made the decision already but from somebody who actually made the jump (be it an VIII vs your IX), here's my take:

My Evos have always been daily driven - hardly tracked, but definitely some spirited driving now and then. My VIII was getting up there in miles (100K+) and was thinking about trading it in...Little things like scuffs and scratches on the interior and exterior were getting to me and I've taken care of it meticulously...but in all honesty, I just lost the love for it...

Looking for a WRX (I know, I know) for mainly the hatch - a buddy of mine has the coupe and after driving it, felt that this would be a better daily driver. However, could not find one in stock for the life of me in the dealers closeby...Ended up going to a Mitsu dealer to look at a '11 GSR but only had a '12...Looked into the Ralliart hatch but the sst didn't feel right to me (def felt like it was a downgrade).

With the Evo X, felt more solid, more civilized for daily driving. The stock GSR struts felt waay better than the Evo VIII stocks; I enjoy the new odometer telling me the temp outside and mpg, and def an improved interior with the BT and cruise control! The overall feel of steering was about the same - sharp as ever - and I think I can actually make a u-turn in this one; having more safety features gave me a peace of mind with the kids as well...however, there are negatives as well: NO trunk space; cheap shift boot, radio cheap looking (am I really in a 30K car?!) and with me being 5'3" - I definitely really felt like Bilbo Baggins driving it!(doors felt tall, dash height)...But, overall feel good about my choice (However, if I had a IX I wonder if I would've been singing the same tune tho)
