Evo Funding - College Student

So I am interested in how you all funded your cars (evo's) through college. I know some of you are lucky to have a rich *** family and probably were just given whatever you wanted, but I could care less. I am pretty desperate right now to finish the funding for an evo, and I'm curious as to the ingenious thoughts you all have come up with over the year for a quick extra buck.

Get a full-time job and you can afford it so long as your not working the counter at McDonalds...... I worked full time through college to afford a new street bike and a Sti (later sold and bought the evo but similar pricing).

Work there is no other way unless its given to you (but you already knew that)

In my honest opinion look for a better paying job through a better paid career worth your time and if you can help it invest. Invest in things worth buying and get what you need only not just what you want all of the time. Sure spending here and there is good but dont splurge.

As far as going to school and thats more important because you will be working towards better opportunities and future goals rather than stay stuck in a private emplyment position where there is no stability in funding for your services. If you feel that you are struggling at the place of employment where your at and your not making enough to pay your bill either get another part time job or work on your career and get out asap our once you have your foot in the next door.

Im thinking about it like this unless im getting paid to get into something else and its worth my time there then I will deal with it if not and its not the kind of work that id like to pursue im not even going to look twice. Oh and you can help it dont look to live above your means and try to do the work on your car by yourself if you can help it and try to buy the car in cash without taking out a loan if you can help it unless your trying to build credit.

I had joined the military. I am out now but I get the GI Bill so they actually pay me to go to school.

I also work a gov't job 40 hrs a week and am taking 15 hrs this semester. It has been crazy at times but you got to do what you got to do.

I hated the military but I didnt have mommy and daddy to help me out in life so I needed to do what I could for myself. Although I disliked the military I recommend everyone go do 4 years if you can. You will be glad you did.

True that man, I've seen nothing but good things from my buddies that joined the Marines or Army. It lets you see things much clearer I guess because they made complete 180's with their lives. My job now pays a little more than 11/hr which is pretty good for a part time college job I guess, I can't really find anything better so I guess I'll just hang in there for a little while. Thank you both.

I work 50 hours a week as a detailer while going to school 16 hours a week. It's a lot of work, but it's well worth it. I'm able to keep up on paying my car payment, insurance, and cell phone bills while still having just enough to save up for mods a little at a time.

Living at home helps a lot, I couldn't even come close to affording my car if I lived on my own.

I'm a bartender so I'm making pretty good money right now (relative to what I used to make anyway) and I could afford to buy an Evo and I would have already but I'm moving to Ann Arbor for U of M in a couple months and I'm not 100% sure I'll be able to afford it then with a rent payment and what not. I'm assuming I'd be able a $250/mo car payment, but I want to be sure. Not sure how much I'll be working, etc. It's tough because the seemingly perfect Evo is for sale right now. D:

Did you buy yours yet, Stryffe?

I am a engineering student at RIT a part of our graduation requirement is to get 1 year worth of Co-op. Which is basically a PAID internship. So I am currently in college I get a Co-op that allows me to take off from school to work and get paid as a full time engineer and get graduation credit for working. Then I go back to school take classes after 6 months. I throw massive amounts of $ into my car while I am on Co-op doing maintenance and mods. While I am in school I ride the school shuttle or walk. I only drive the EVO on the weekends which allows me to be able to afford it.

My car is paid off, I pay my own bills cell, rent, food, gas misc. Everything but insurance and school.

Don't mean they will always be in good shape, no rust, or low mileage. Most of these used EVOs out here now are beat to hell. Better get a clean one now before the price drops too low and everyone can afford one then they are riced out.

Also I am starting to dabble in the stock market becoming a quarterly trader which means I buy low stocks sell high take the exrta cash off the top then reinvest into another company. So that way I can still make money but not actually sit there and physically work towards it.
