Evo X to 2013 STI?
I came from a 2011 STi sedan in limited trim and traded for a 2012 Evo MR in Touring trim. I must say I miss the 6speed manual trans, and the more comfortable seats, but I traded for the evo for a multitude of reasons.
This is why the Evo is better from a previous STi owner:
-Much better Stereo w/ Rockford Fostgate
-Keyless entry and start
-Quieter on highway
-Very supportive seats
-SST trans is superb, never miss or grind a gear
-Rattles less than the STi did
-Exterior Styling
-Interior quality (back seat armrest would always flop down)
-Already has a FMIC
-Already has a twinscroll turbo
-Easier to perform maintenance (dont have to remove intake or or any reservoirs to change plugs)
-Already has a strut tower brace and underbody bracing
-From intake to exhaust, Evo's parts are efficient and matched well to each other. Such as replacing the DP will present minimal gains. While on an STi 30-40whp gains are expected.
Unless you need the fold down rear seats, stick with the evo.

My wife thinks I am psycho! I went from a 2009 STi to a 2010 EVO X SE to a 2011 STi hatch back to 2012 MR Touring. No more trading for me. I am keeping this thing until I can afford a GTR!
The new STI is making similiar lap times to the Evo X. On top of it the interior is better quality and its a quieter ride. The STI has definitely stepped up its game these past couple of years. I'm not like most of the members here in the sense that I actually always liked the subies. ALWAYS. No longer is the Subaru trailing behind as in the past. They have really hit the nail on the new STI. I recommend it. I've been in two and I can't really make decision on which is better(Evo).

Ugh, the `swoopy` design of the dashboard in the WRXs and STis is extremely out of place and ugly especially noticeable on the passenger side. I prefer the clean, straigh forwardness of the EVO dash (yes we can all agree EVO doesnt use expensive plastic)
Subaru needs an interior upgrade soon, that swoop is old and ugly.

Mr/sti
Mate i just bought a 2013 GSR and i regret it hard i wish i bought the MR, I wouldn't go the STI Because IMO they don't look anywhere near as nice as the X but the 6speed manual in the STI is so much better for DD I'm not talking Tuning talk I'm talk day to day driving! the GSR sucks on the highway you feel like your always revving the hell out of your car, as soon as you hit 120km on the highway your at 4000rpm IMO that is crap! i use my car for work so I'm always on the highway this is why i wish i had an MR with the 6speed auto i would be so much happier.
MR in sixth gear is only ~200 rpm's lower than the GSR, so not really that big of a deal.
I had an 04 STi when they first hit US soil. I spent $10k to hit 400whp, something Evo's are doing on the stock turbo (granted often with corn). I frequent nasioc and other forums, and it seems crazy to see built STi's with upgraded turbos that see 380awhp. Big power one's don't seem to last long at all either. Several perpetual build/break/build threads.
That said, in stock form the STi is great. The trans is so much better in stock form than the GSR X. Take a look at the 60 pages of 'notchy evo x trans' here and you'll get the point. All in all, I'm very happy with my GSR X. Perfrect, no. Still make me feel good with some spirited driving after a long day of work? Absolutely.

Friend of mine already blew his 2011 Sti motor to pieces.
He is replacing with a cosworth block, at the small cost of 10k.
Yikes, all he had was intake / tbe / downpipe & Cobb tune.
Lasted all of 3 months, ill pass on the subie.

I sold my 2010 STI hatchback early this year, and picked up an used 2010 evo x ww.
I love both cars, if you are really into road race!! keep the evo!!!
if just DD and some fun I think STI will be more ideal.
