Evo X to 2013 STI?
This is actually something I have been trying to decide on for a little bit now. I currently drive an 09 RalliArt and I am looking at either a STi hatch or an Evo GSR. Basically, what it comes down to is that both cars have their pros and cons. Technically speaking, the Evo is the best car. If you're looking for a DD that you can drive like a grandma in, get the WRX. Warranties on either car is pretty much pointless because if you're looking to get one of these cars, it's not because of the warranty. If you're looking to get one of these cars, it's probably not even for luxury. If you want luxury out of a turbo, awd car and have the money to throw down on one of these, then just get an ATS.
I've made my decision and I'm sticking with Mitsu. I've pretty much been a Mitsu guy all my life. I've owned 3 now and I probably won't be leaving them for awhile. Don't just swap companies because something may seem better. That's a crap excuse for *****ing out. If you don't like the interior on the Evo, just upgrade it. Don't like the way the speakers sound, swap them. I bought an entire audio system upgrade for my RalliArt from Crutchfield and didn't even spend $400. That included dash kit, radio, all 6 speakers, all wiring harnesses, and the spacers for the speakers.
What it does come down to is your preference. I guess you can say I'm kinda like a chic because I prefer diamonds in my life.

I actually didn't do the switch. Got scared of the ringland issues with the newer STI's. Maybe wait for the next gen STI. Thought about the new 3 series though but i just can't let go of the evo.
^^ yeah im glad u didnt let it go... way to many damn subies now every time i turn my head in socal i see a damn subie...

Te be honest, this is an EVO forum. You are going to get tons of biased information towards the Evo. I personally own a 2012 wrx and I'd say get what you like more. Both are amazing vehicles and you can always replace the features that are not "up to par" with something better. For example, i didn't like the seats on my subaru so i replaced them with recaros. You want better handling from the STI? Get coilovers, sway bars, end links etc.
I have an X and have thought about picking up a WRX or STI (hatch for utility and a general love of hot hatches) in addition. Here is something in my thoughts. The WRX seems to have, for whatever reason, much less frequent ringland failures. If you go on Nasioc or IWSTI, other than heavily modded WRXs, almost all ringland failures are STIs. Couple this with the fact that Suby probably sells 2 or 3 WRXs for every STI (don't know exact ratio but that seems plausible from anecdotes) I'd speculate the STI failure % is much higher. Ironically the WRX has higher compression I believe, but I suppose lower rev limit(?). In any case if I pick one of these up even though the STI has the 6 speed and more sophisticated drivetrain, the ringlang thing and cost difference for comparable acceleration would tilt me towards a WRX. Am I out in left field assuming the STI's engine is more fragile (at least in stock form) than that in the WRX ?

yeah on the subaru i did upgrade i got coils etc... but STill didnt feel as great as a stock Evo x!!...
im glad i switched over i love my new 2013 evo x =]
I would wait two years until they get the engine sorted though as there are a fair bit of issues with the BRZ/FRS cars.
I came from a 2011 STi sedan in limited trim and traded for a 2012 Evo MR in Touring trim. I must say I miss the 6speed manual trans, and the more comfortable seats, but I traded for the evo for a multitude of reasons.
This is why the Evo is better from a previous STi owner:
-Much better Stereo w/ Rockford Fostgate
-Keyless entry and start
-Quieter on highway
-Very supportive seats
-SST trans is superb, never miss or grind a gear
-Rattles less than the STi did
-Exterior Styling
-Interior quality (back seat armrest would always flop down)
-Already has a FMIC
-Already has a twinscroll turbo
-Easier to perform maintenance (dont have to remove intake or or any reservoirs to change plugs)
-Already has a strut tower brace and underbody bracing
-From intake to exhaust, Evo's parts are efficient and matched well to each other. Such as replacing the DP will present minimal gains. While on an STi 30-40whp gains are expected.
Unless you need the fold down rear seats, stick with the evo.
