Evo X to 2013 STI?
Ive built 14 different ej257s and sorry to say but its %100 true that tuning is everything. Call your local tuner that is a Subaru enthusiast. I blew my own personal oem 06 STI ej257 since I was running a stage 2 map on my access port while still using my oem catted down pipe.
Its called youth
Agreed but once again its still mostly due to the tune on newer STI's. YES Subaru oem tune is ****. Read on

I think STI's are more on the refined side (feels like better quality) but Evos make a lot more power for the money you spend. Guess it depends on if you want bang for your buck or have super deep pockets
I'm planning on trading in my evo to a new sti later this year. I'm going to use the car as my DD since i'm letting go of my civic cause having to maintain 2 cars is getting expensive. No more weekend warrior anymore just the same car everyday of the week except when my girlfriend would lend me her car. LOL. I need input from anyone who has done the switch. Is it worth it?
I would stay far away from an STI and at least wait for the all-new models in 2014. EJ25 simply isn't a good engine in its current iteration. Depending on how long you own the car a rebuild will be likely in your future regardless of how hard you drive the car or if you tune/keep it stock. Also when you sit in the interior take a really, really good look and feel the plastics on the dash, doors, etc. and ensure that your legs will never come into contact with the console silver trim as the paint wears off incredibly easy. A co-worker here has had the exact same problem as this one in the picture while not as bad he's on his second trim piece and it's starting to wear. The STI interior looks better initially but it's actually lower quality as it will rattle even worse than EVO interior and the stock stereo performance is horrendous for a car in this day and age.

Oh and the number one reason not to change is that the grass is not always greener and in fact is usually worse. My Mustang goes like stink and rides nice but it's a steaming pile of hot garbage. I've had more issues come up in one year than our last five new vehicles combined over our entire ownership of them. Makes owning an EVO a Honda Civic-like experience in comparison.
Hey I have a 2011 wrx sedan swp with full bolt ons tmic.& bpv.I am.making.310 whp and.368wtq.. anyways u said no.rattles ? Bs all subies r well known.for.rattles ... Second ringland is a nightmare , also if ur thinking of.modding it I wouldn't ( reason is they paint their bolts blue.n pink so they can tell u moved it before and deny your warranty) I'm trading.in my wrx for a gsr soon (2013 ). Reason why I'm.scared I'm get ringland + I went to subiefest and I was next to 10 subies wrx / sti and 7 outta 10 were burning.oil .... They were still new too 04-11 year ... Mine hasn't .
Anyways I test drove the Mr I hated it test drove the gsr I loved it felt like it almost had.more ***** than my wrx ... Not as much tq tho but power band etc felt good !!
I wouldnt go back to subaru till they fix the rattle warranty & internals
