I now know what cams my car has
How goes it guys!?
Ever since I got my car I've been wanting to find out what cams it has. Since I got it I never did pay attention to the lopy sound, and since its my first modded car I didn't even know that aftermarket cams would do that sound for your car. So I found out more about them, and I was more determined to find out what type of cams it had. Easiest way to find out is obviously to take the valve cover off, but I did not have any intention of removing it since it don't leak oil so my way of thinking if its not leaking then don't mess with it. So, I one day removed the oil fill cap and saw letters and number ingraved into the Intake cam. I paid no attention to it as I was looking for like a brand name and not a Part #.
Today I looked again, and searched the part # I found (AM 007). This turns out to be an HKS 280 Intake cam. Im happy to find out I have something bigger than 264 as I was starting to think that maybe thats what it had.
The question I have now is: Are these good cams for the Evo? Ive read most go with 272's, and when you look at cams that are 280 it states that these are meant to be used with large turbos. So now it has me thinking whether the previous owner ran a huge turbo.
