Looking To Buy a Evo8 need help!

I have a g35 coupe and wanna trade it in for this http://www.autotrader.com/ATCarID/AT-14244E32?LNX=IOSEMLVDP&dealer_id=100013312&car_id= 337923634

I wanna know does it look like everything is normal. The big front mount makes me think it has more mods

That's a stock front mount. They just hacked up the bumper for whatever reason, and it looks awful. The rest of the car looks legit at first glance though.

It was prob chopped up cause it used to have a gigantic intercooler. Imo, I think it was chopped to pull the old intercooler out. Guess it beats having to peel off the bumper lol.

OP go over it meticulously. It could have been heavily modded at one point and returned to stock. Drive it and see if there is any loss of power or hissing. Personally, I would want to check the stock rom before buying. Its not a bad price. Looks to be pretty clean.

I agree, look it over very closely and look for signs of previous modifications

I recently just bought an 8 as well and it took me a while to find one that made me feel like I would have no buyers remorse. This one looks pretty good; clean fax, engine bay looks neat and stock ( I think the only thing not stock from the pictures is the battery). Like an earlier post stated maybe someone had a different fmic or maybe it was for looks . Little tip at looking for abuse on 8's are by bending over and looking at the back side of the radiator (right next to exhaust mani) and checking to see how many fins are bent. Usually if a lot are bent it means it has been taken out quite a few times and mods have been going in/out. Check breaks for dust from tracking/autox. Test drive; make sure no grinds, it will be notchy at first if you've never driven a evo before, put windows down listen for tcase whine. Lay down check undertray see if its being held on by zipties or factory screws. What i noticed from shopping for a while is that most private dealers/ dealerships price the evo trade-in's before they even get to their lot. Some don't know the prices of aftermarket rims/suspension which that one has. Mine had kw v3's, ssl (which they thought was stock), i got a good extended warranty up to 80k miles (currently at 38k). Don't buy because you think you're not gonna find a better deal. I found 5 evo 8/9's bone stock within 1 month all under 40k miles. Good luck.

edit: ask for previous owner service/ maintenance records

Car fax is full of ****, so don't base a urging on that. Besides obviously I'd it actually says it's had a problem.
I don't see a pic of the engine bay in the listing? On a cell phone right now, but did they pull it off?
It says lots of upgrades on the ad? But I see nothing. Cut out front bumper meaning huge fmic. It looks like stock exhaust. For that price range you can find some really nice evos. Not ones that have been built up and put back to stock to look clean.
Call Mitsubishi USA and check the vin. They will tell you everything down to the original color. Find out if warranty was voided or anything you can through them. I did it, they were very helpful.
Original owner had 2 years left on his warranty. Why sell?

you can run a 4 inch intercooler with the stock bumper without cutting the outside of the bumper. Also the bumper takes like 5 mins to take off, just stupid.

Does it look stock? Or heavily modded before?

The engine bay is stock but it looks pretty dinged up, like it was modded a bunch and put back to stock in a hurry.
