The SST - It's an Automatic, is it not?
I have both manual and SST. SST its a Dual Clutch Auto trans end of story. I get the average person asking me why is your Evo auto?! Once I say it has dual clutch packs in place of a traditional torque converter and doesn't lag like most tiptronic featured cars I get "OH THAT'S TIGHT!" -_-.

Good on'ya.
I’ll bite, as I have an MR. There really should be a third classification of transmissions. The problem with this debate is that people are trying to put the MR transmission in one of the two traditional classifications, and it doesn’t fit in either.
Any traditional automatic should auto shift to keep you from redlining and blowing your engine. We have modes where we could if we wanted. However, if I want to be lazy in Houston traffic, I can let my transmission auto shift for me, and laugh at everyone with a traditional manual having to shift in and out of first gear in an hour of traffic.
I don’t really get upset when people call my car an automatic or a manual, I just feel sorry for them, as they do not have the best of both worlds.
Also, NeedBoost! …You should be ashamed of yourself for quoting Wikipedia in a debate. LOL

You said it yourself, you laugh at everyone with traditional manuals - thus omitting yourself from the Manual category. Since there are only 2 categories, you fall under the other by default.
Aw come on! What's wrong with the Wiki?
I so want to agree with you, but if we did then we could make a case for all other forms of automatics and that is just silly.

My point being the SST should be treated in the same sense as a hybrid. I really thought that would be something people could agree too.

Also the SST, if I'm not mistaken, is a recent type of transmission? Why should it HAVE to fall in one of 2 categories. Also doesn't trip-tronic apply to a traditional Automatic? Being that the SST is not a traditional Automatic (nor Traditional Manual since its a mx of both) the term "trip-tronic" becomes irrelevant. Yes?

So what happens when someone reprograms their SST to only shift via human input? Can us poor insecure MR drivers be part of the old school manuals cool kids club then? Oh wait, why would I want to go backwards in an evolutionary trend? LOL
