Trade Evo X for the new 400hp Golf?

love my X, but the interior is woeful in terms of quality. i've got nice leather seats and a smaller steering wheel...that's about it. everything else is from the base lancer.
There were fast cars with nice interiors when I bought the evo. Power leather seats, auto climate control, onboard computer, parking assist, and turn by turn navigation are still not on my want-list.
They could've tweaked this car to make it a winner, but it looks like they aren't going to.
It sounds like a Golf R with power mods and nothing else addressed.
Lose all the e-diff crap, put proper limited slips front and rear, lose the Haldex for a full time AWD system, and a LOT more performance suspension bits are required for this car to be taken seriously.
Plus, they'll totally charge $48k plus for this car. Our market won't support it; they can ask for it and feign like it will come, but it won't. Buy an R and mod it to your tastes instead, save thousands.

Your argument makes no sense. Yeah it is based off of a rally car but its not a rally car. Rally cars don't weigh 3500lbs have sunroofs, leather seats, etc... They made an attempt at improving the interior and it is still years behind the competition.
I don't think it is unreasonable to want a nicer interior on a 40k car when VW does it better on cars that cost half that. I came from a 11 GTi when I bought my Evo but my Evo is not a daily driven car. The Evo delivers from a performance standpoint but I miss the attention to detail from the VW. Why in 2014 can't we have auto up/down on all the windows? Digital speedo on the MFD, useable storage, reasonable size, telescoping wheel, cupholders, etc...
Better how?

Better as a performance execution of an AWD car. If you want an infinitely better AWD system, limited slip differentials, yaw control, Brembos, and good end user tunability, get an Evo.
If you want usable storage, a flashy HUD, and a nice interior, get a Golf R.
Also, semi confirmed its not coming to the states..... super bummer if true.
Volkswagen USA Thanks for your interest in the R400, but there are no plans at this time to offer the vehicle stateside. Since it's not always feasible to sell every model available in other countries, we will pass your interest along. yeah, VW isn't bringing this here, ever. I do think its a cool car, but I wouldn't trade my Evo for it if for nothing else than that it scares the crap out of me to own a FI German car long term.
I wouldn't do it. I test drove the new r32 before I bought my evo and I didnt like the way it handled simple turns and seemed like it was bit underpowered. But thats my opinion.

I've owned a 2013 MK6 Golf R and now a 2014 GSR with SSSL (same as MR touring with leather) and you are 100% wrong. The Evo still has a total utter crap interior compared. Even with the leather and SS.
That said, that's not why people buy Evos.
