Dealer Pricing
Dealer Pricing
Looking at possibly my first Evo; a dealer near me has a 04 RR evo and is asking about $15k + TTL. It has about 113k miles on it. What's a good offer I can make without looking like a fool given the miles/year/color? Anyone have any dealer haggling tips in general? I've always bought off Craigslist prior to this. Thanks, all.
It's hard to say, there's not an automatic amount of wiggle room, since you don't know how long it's been sitting on their lot, how many times its price has been changed or how much money they took the car in for (which also plays a big role in how low they're willing to go). So it's hard to say what a good or acceptable offer would be.
However, dealerships affiliated with Power/AutoNation do have a pricing system that indicates those figures, depending on what number the used car price ends with.

KBB says that $11.5K is a fair price bought from a dealer. Can this information be used to haggle? I know that Evos kind of have their own pricing independent of what KBB and NADA say, but I'm not sure to what extent they do.
You can use it, but most dealerships don't care about whatever numbers you will bring in, and it generally doesn't get you a lot more. A lot of those are just guides and estimates, and not anything official. For example, I'm considering going to law school, and there are some sites that let you type in your undergraduate GPA and your LSAT score, and it will calculate how likely the ranking law schools will accept you. But it doesn't mean that you're good to go or that you'll get in because it says you will or that you won't get in because it says you won't.
