Should I Stay or Should I Go?

Hello. I am in decision mode. I have had my 05 EVO since well, 2005. It has 96K miles. I am the only owner, have treated the car very well and have never made a mod. The car is completely OEM. Timing belt done at 80K. Brakes and rotors done at 90K miles. I have used it as my daily driver. I am a 40+ adult with children and a wife and am feeling like maybe it's time to move on even though I still love my car. Problem is, I can't think of any car I would rather have. If I do sell my car, how much should I look to get? Car is in amazing shape inside and out! And then, what could I get for a similar price that would keep me enjoying my commute! Money is tight, so I won't be buying a car worth more money than what I sell mine for. Thanks for the help!!!

Are you going to buy a new car instead? If not, I would keep the EVO which I assume is paid for, instead of buying someone elses problems. Since your the original owner, you know the true shap of your car. A new motor is about one year worth of car payments, a new tranny is about half a year worth of payments.
If your going to buy new and keep it oem, I would just lease. That way your always under warrenty and don't have to pay the total amount and sell afterwards. I was at the same place your at and decided to keep the evo and just replace the drive train as needed. The platform is hard to beat, but I would say up until two children, after that, a third row would work better.

why do you feel its time to move on...because it has 96k on the odometer? Its a car that's paid off... don't go in debt for no reason. Buying another 15k or so car after you sell yours---gets you what? a little more time. I ask as I have had and currently have cars with at or over 200k with no issues. I too am older--certainly older then you with 2 kids etc etc...I drive the wheels off my cars--that is until they don't run anymore or I cant keep them pn the rd or some a-hole wrecks it for me. Keep what you have unless you have a reason in incure someone elses shoddy ride or want to take on more debt. Keep you car, pay off all debts, save for the kids college-- save some cash for what you really want to drive and pay cash. Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback! If I did decide to sell, how much do you think I could get? Then, what are some options that might compete with my EVO for a similar amount of money?

Like they mentioned, buying someone elses used car is a gamble, and they probably didn't take care of as good as you have your Evo. New is nice but gotta pay to play. I would enjoy your Evo and save some $.

Far as comparable cars, not too many out there...

Keep car, get botox, fool everyone to think you are 15 years younger.
Boom, solved.

You might as well keep it. Unless there's another car out there that you already want and have test driven, then there's no reason to get rid of this car. But if you needed to, you could probably get a nice chunk of change, considering it's both bone stock and with decent mileage considering its age.

keep the car, mine has 115k and doesnt feel like its even lost a step.
sure, the ride isn't a BMW but, it's a fairly dependable car. Also, its paid off.

Give it a couple of mods, and i'm sure you'll fall back in love.
