Looking for evo 8/9 for 14k possible?

I want to buy an decent evo 8 or 9 with clean title for around 14k
that has under 80,xxx miles is this possible I have seen on the past. but now I have the money I can not find one for sale in that price range all seem overpriced wanting 17k for their 137,xxx miles beat to hell car.

I am just wondering when is a good time to pick up an evo 8 and what should I pay for a o3 evo 8 all stock with 60,xxx miles. I just caint see paying 20k for a 10 year old car. when I can get a newer X for not that much more.

I am gessing its a good time to sell your 8/9's this market is ridiculous

I am just festerated and want to get in an evo but don't want to over pay
been searching for 3 mouths and have not found nothing

It sounds like you are on a tight budget.

This is probably not what you want to hear, but even if you can find a clean straight VIII or IX at a bargain price, you still have to budget for maintenance. Evos require a lot of scheduled maintenance, and they are quite finicky about things like parts and fluids. Even then, a lot of them break down.

Sure, it is possible that you car will run just dandy with nothing but fluid changes, but I would not bet on it. I'd also rather have a Honda Civic that runs, than a super-fast time attack Evo that is sitting because I cannot get it fixed.

Exactly. Buying any used Evo without a ~$2k bankroll earmarked for maintenance/incidentals is a recipe for disaster. Then being in a tight budget just for purchase price, you'll have to get lucky for that to end well.

being that it's 2013, the evo 8 and 9 are only becoming more scarce, in the U.S. anyway, as they're wrecked, totaled, blown up, etc. but are still highly sought after, especially the 9, it really is going to come down to how bad do you want a 8 or 9, or like you said, pay a few thousand more for a X, i just priced an '03 @ 80,000 on kbb, still books at 16,xxx in Fair condition, and then if you find one UNMOLESTED, the owner probably knows he has an upper hand as most buyers looking for these cars are wanting them unmodded and will probably ask for a little more, i'd say 14K for an 80,000 or under is going to be far and few between, might need to up your budget a few thousand or up your mileage limit if your trying to stay around $14K, gl though

Overpriced? Whats overpriced to you? KBB lists an EVO IX GSR with 80,000 in excellent condition for $20,000 ? Even if its in the worst shape (fair) its still over $17000? Where is the logic? And if your going by market value like most cars on Evom, they are going for MORE than that.

Having been looking myself lately, finding one that is in good shape with decent miles in that price range is almost impossible. Especially a 9. When you find them in that price range they need work, drivetrain or body has been beat to death, etc..

There is a BBY 03 in Missouri with only 53k miles asking around 15OBO. Check it out on the "cars for sale" section. I do believe that people on here are getting really greedy with these cars. Some IXs are going for almost $30k, which is what they were bought new 7 years ago.. SMH

Lol!
You are looking to buy one, so of course you'd say something like this. What would you say if the tables were turned? If you decided to sell, would you just give the car away, to avoid getting labeled by some random stooge on the internet as "greedy". Demand obviously exceeds supply. I have the exact car you want, but I am not looking to sell it. Even if you offered me $30k, I would say no. You said you'd pay top dollar for the exact car you want. What is top dollar to you? What is top dollar to you is not always top dollar to the next guy.

With that budget you'll find high mileage 8s maaaaybe 9s and prob beat to hell. Don't expect a straight and clean 8 or 9 for that. That's Sty price range.

I understand what you're going through, but hold out for the right one as deals can be found. The only reason resale on these cars is so high is because there's too many idiots out there with more money (or credit) than brains and they pay the ridiculous prices people are asking. Unfortunately, as these same idiots blow up their cars the price inflates due to decreasing supply.
