Looking for evo 8/9 for 14k possible?
I understand what you're going through, but hold out for the right one as deals can be found. The only reason resale on these cars is so high is because there's too many idiots out there with more money (or credit) than brains and they pay the ridiculous prices people are asking. Unfortunately, as these same idiots blow up their cars the price inflates due to decreasing supply.
i can honestly say its gonna be hard to find a evo for $14k with that millage, im currently in the market for one and they do come up for $14-15k but they might have 86,000 and up just have patients dont rush you will find a evo in your budget, just make sure you take it to the dealer to get it inspected
#2 - Tein springs (not a good sign), looks like black hood and trunk (as opposed to carbon fiber)... not the best color
#3 - Looks good, but I hate how he says "bone stock" twice but it's not exactly bone stock, even if its only mods are easily removable... again not the best color. Great shape though, probably the best of the five, if you're cool with red.
#4 - Lots of mods and fairly high mileage
#5 - Lots of mods, a bit more expensive than I'd want to pay for that
#1 - Not bad, but that front license plate looks oddly bent, and is hanging on by floss

2003 Evo 8 Rally Red 55k ORIGINAL Miles $15500obo
seems like a great deal though if you like red
i just bought my evo for $13,500 with clean title and 85k miles and he had just done the 60k service, a lil late but at least he did it, has a couple knicks and chips on the front bumper but its 10 years old, but to answer your question, yes its possible

It's possible, but it's growing less and less likely. That's the problem. Everyone says wait for the right deal to come, but the inventory is only shrinking, when it comes to Evo VIIIs and IXs. Sellers know that, and unless they need cash fast, then you might be waiting for a long time for the deal you want.
Plus the OP just mentioned that black and GG are his preferred colors... which already cuts out a lot of the Evos that you do find on sale, and GG is even more limiting, since it was only available on the 2005 MR and the 2006 IX/MR/SE.
Again, it's not impossible, but with all the talk about that right deal... it's not like there are zero other people also looking for the same car.

It absolutely can be done! I've owned 3 2003 Evo 8s so far, 2 w/ clear titles - 1 rebuilt title. Not one of them did I pay over $11k for. All had between 75-95k miles when purchased, and not one gave me any significant problems at all. I daily drove them all, putting over 25k miles on them each within a year, I love these cars!
Just look daily, high & low...every single craigslist area link within 500 miles of you, definitely check autotrader & cars.com, both of those sites have surprised me with some very good deals! Those are mainly dealers who got an "older" or "higher" mile cars in as a trade, I once got beat out on by literally 5 mins for a deal on a 2002 Phoenix Yellow BMW E46 M3 with 90k for $9990. I have since watched several higher miles (130k+) mile E46 M3s go for around $10-12k. The Evos believe it or not, on cars & autotrader atleast seem to hold their values quite a bit better. The average 100k mile 03 Evo 8 is still $13k, though I've seen some 130k+ mile ones go for $10k.

Sorry man, but the EVO is one of those cars that definitely hold their value regardless of age. The same is to be said for supras, rx-7's (FD), and NSX's.
I got mine for 15k but immediately had to put about 2k into it to fix what the previous owner had jacked up. she is running like a champ now though, and has been for 3 years

I know a MK4 Supra(6speed) w/ 220k miles on it was sold for 20k a couple months ago. I don't think an Evo w/ 220k miles on it will sell for 20k. Who knows though.
