A Mitsu newb's first post!

So I was looking at the Mazda 3 and the Impreza.
I live in Canada, so we don't get the Evo, unfortunately.

Regardless, after test driving the Mazda 3 and doing some major forum work, I found the Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart. It's got Lancer and rally in the same sentence... and it's got as much torque as horse power... this car has GOT to be good!

I'm a torque guy. I loved the Mazda 3, but if I can get more torque, it would be great

I'm highly interested in this car now, but I'm wondering if people could help me dispel (or confirm) a few myths.
a) Mitsubishi has a poor reliability record.
b) Mitsubishi has not improved their reliability record, so the Lancer Ralliart I'm considering may be prone to problems down the road.
c) If you take care of the Lancer Ralliart (leave it stock for the most part and just do regular 30k/60k maintenance and don't drive it like crazy all the time) then the car will last me for a decade and a half or so?

I like the look and the torque of the Ralliart sedan. Please help a newb!

First off, Welcome aboard!

As for your questions:

A. I personally NEVER EVER had problems with Mitsubishi's reliablity. Some may say otherwise. I've had a 1989 Mitsubishi Mirage for 15 years now, it's still going. I expect my current Lancer to do the same.

B. I can't really comment on their reliability issues (since I haven't experienced any). Nonetheless, As long as you baby the car, it'll be worth it down the road. The vehicle's future is in the hands of the owner.

C. Either way, whether you plan to mod it or not, it should last you (assuming you take care the vehicle itself).

Thanks guys
Yeah, I'm looking at the Ralliart version cuz I'll definitely need the 162 hp atleast.

Just looking to get some information. There's not a lot of info on Lancers, especially the Ralliart. There's so much about the Mazda 3's, though.

Saw the Lancer in person today.
Whoever said the pictures suck at representing the real thing is right. This car is quite a beauty in person (not super good looking, but it's pretty nice).

Only things I could find wrong with it was that the clutch puddle had a bit of play, there was some rust on a metal piece that is right next to the headers, and the buttons to fold down the 60/40 seats were a little mushy.

Anyone else experience/see these things? Maybe it was just this particular car?

Oh, and the Evo shifter is MONEY!! I LOVE IT!!!

Couldn't tell you about the clutch feel, the one I drove was an auto As far as some of the buttons feeling "mushy", most of the interior buttons (not including the 60/40 switches) are electric switches, not manually activating switches, so you won't get a click when you push it in, it just sort of...works.

Oh okay, that explains the heating and air conditioning... speaking of which, the air con wouldn't turn off when I turned the car on (not the engine, just the electrical components). I even tried pressing it a few times and it didn't work... maybe I'm a newb with air con?

Also, what sorta felt mushy was the buttons to make the 60/40 rear seats fold down. Maybe I'm picky. I'll have to go back and keep pushing buttons again... hehehe...

But overall I like the car. And so far, I like the community too
