Just saying Hi.. and asking dumb newbie questions

Just got my evo 2 weeks ago... man this car is tight !

traded my eclipse for it... what a great decision that was ...

my only question so far is... why does the car lose a lot of power sometimes when it is over 5k rpm and usually when I drop down into second or third... I mean its not the normal boost trail off that you get all the time, its more like going from V8 to Hampster power, and only sometimes...

I'm a bit confused as to what you're doing when you're experiencing power loss.

Welcome to the site.

Thanks for the quick reply... I should have said it more simple.. This morning I wanted to punch it.. I was in 3rd gear, and I downshifted to 2nd, which put the tach at about 5k rpms.. when i did this I had very weak accelaration, and you could actually fill the car "trying to boost" but not really boosting.. it created uneven acceleration... and weak acceleration at that..

well the evo really expereinces good boost at around 3500Rpm then tappers off.. you will need to mod/flash if you want to get good gain at high RPM.

Oh and welcome to the board

The only thing I can think is that you didn't give it enough throttle before actually shifting into 2nd, and the tranny was pulling the motor up rather than the motor pushing the car. Otherwise, it seems like something is wrong to me. I never experienced that sensation downshifting, though I haven't driven the Evo that much.

Hey guys thanx... Westside, I think you nailed it... I really didnt give it full throttle before dropping down... It runs great when coming up through the gears...

Well, I think I am going to get a MBC, Gauge and cat-back... ( to start... )
