ETS turbo kit & uprated radiator??

I called ETS on Monday to discuss turbos and my set-up. During the 30 min phone call, not once did Mike act like he wanted to get off the phone. These guys understand not all of us are into drag racing! I ordered a 3" FMIC kit a few weeks ago and wanted to talk about their turbo kit. I was on the fence on what kit to select. Since I am into road courses I need to be very careful about turbo size and need a very robust kit.

One of my concerns was the upper rad hose and its close proximity to the exhaust header. Mike said that they will send me a custom metal upper radiator pipe with what ever kit I order. Nice!!!

My last concern was turbo to radiator clearance. Mike said this could be an issue if I want to upgrade my radiator. Since the kit is a pretty tight fit and most uprated rads are a bit wider this could be a big problem. Question is, has anyone running a ETS 50-58 trim kit upgrade their rad? If so what did you use and was there any problems?

ETS please keep up the positive 'can do' mentality. You guys really come across as one of us. Know what I mean?

Jez, I know they fit with the stock radiator, thats not the question.

Question being who is running an upgraded radiator with a ETS 50-58 trim turbo kit?

CBRD makes a new radiator that is more efficent than the stock and smaller in size. Search and you will find more about it. Should take your worries away.

Tom and Mike from ETS are both awesome guys. They will take their company a long way with the respect they show everybody on the phone, on top of the extremely high quality of their products

our rad (because of the tank design) sits slightly forward of the stocker, but has the same dimensions with a more efficient core design...

pm me for details

CBRD's radiator is a good choice but on the T3 platform kits there is actually quite a bit of room between the turbocharger compressor cover and the stock radiator for an even larger unit. I see no problem at all with a 40mm or even slightly bigger unit fitting with those kits, it's just the T4 platform and larger that it would be a bit of a squeeze.

As a side note, Lucas at English Racing has been able to get significantly more clearance on the engine side of the radiator by slotting the bracket holes and snugging the radiator up to to the core support. There's a fair bit of gap there as it's set up from Mitsubishi so that's another option to get a bit more room.

Hmmmm thats pretty much the same setup I am going with.

I dont know why everyone keeps talking about how the kit fits with the stock rad... I am talking about upgraded radiator fitment.

if your extra worried about the rad pipe...i believe its a evo5 or 7 radiator ..same demensions as the 8 but sticks the rad pipe on the right side so its far away from the manifold....aftermarket rads should also be fine...
