I'm running a magnaflow N1 Style exhaust. But in all honesty, I am already considering a cam swap. The exhaust note changed big time with the cams (which really isn't the reason for changing). The thing about the cams is that the driveability is crap. The idle pretty much sucks, and with the A/C on, I have had the car die 3 times on me. And starting off in 1st gear, the take-off is really jerky and throttle response isn't even there until above 2k rpm. We've tried quite a few things the last couple of days since the tune and it's not really getting any better. We'll try a few more things. If it doesn't get any better, I'll be in search of something new!

the FP cams are really aggressive.....You need to get a piggyback or a standalone systems and you will not have anymore car dying issues.

The 4r cams aren't too aggressive. Duration is 271 and the lift is 11.2 intake and 10.8 exhaust. Considering how aggressive Cossie M2 and M3 cams are, this doesn't seem too aggressive. And I rode in a 9 RS with M3's the day of my tune. Those things idle really sweet and even with the A/C on, the car had no issues with driveability or idle.

I would rather spend the money on new cams instead of having to go standalone if that's my only option.

Secondly, thanks for the great kit Tom and the ETS crew! I'm pretty happy with the spool. As mentioned by Bryan, there is a little weird boost issue with it. I'll be posting a video shortly (compilation of dyno pulls). Check out the 4th gear pull at the end. You'll see what he's talking about!

As for this pump gas question, NO!

My car was making 308whp and 298wtq on 91 and stock turbo with cams. And I was running 12.3 @ 111 with that setup. That's an average 350whp dynojet car. So I gained almost 60whp on pump gas with this turbo kit. And the fact that you have 93 octane available is a big difference too. I wouldn't doubt with 93 we could be around 380whp no problem. And although I'm really someone who hates dyno racing and all that crap, on average, Dynojets read about 15% higher. So doing the math, that would be around 430whp on 91. Add the 93 and retune and it would be around 450whp on 93 octane! Hope that helps.

Well im not sure on 91 octane ..but if thoses are good numbers there
I understand the differance between dynojet and mustang ..i just figured thoses were a little low ...i'll post up my numbers by the end of sept ..

Just compare his to most that comes out of GST Motorsports... I mean, he did gain an extra 60whp on a mustang from the previous setup to his current 6262. Seems to pull nice to me!

Just post up some videos of some flyby's or track passes! LOL

Dan,

Once everything gets sorted out, it will be at the strip. I'll definitely post some footage for everyone.

what else is done to the car? Stock bottom end? Im guessing you got the valvesprings from FP with the 4r cams.

I dont know man, my car sucks with the M2's.... It drives like absolute crap with the AC on. Its part throttle is a bit jumpy, and sometimes the idle is crappy with the lights on or the air on the windshield setting. Its a bit annoying actually. Hopefully I can tune around it!

My car is stock bottom end. I am running springs and retainers. Supertechs, not FP. I've heard and seen numerous Evo's around this area with M2s and now a few with M3s, and I haven't heard anyone complain about driveability issues. At least not locally.

One thing I noticed is your still running a stock BOV. At high boost it looks like its struggling to hold, maybe that can be the cause of the oscilation?

I have an APS twin vent and I cant find the right setting, I think Im just going to loosen it alot since its really tight right now, and get a retune. Hopefully that helps!

FP4R cams are more aggressive than alot of cams out there that are rated at 272....such as HKS. Each company will rate their cams differently. Like the HKS 272 are mild compared to the FP4R cams and make more power. I am running the HKS 272 and soon upgrading to Kelford 272 with some Kiggley springs and retainers. I have seen that with a piggy back or a standalone you are able to smooth out the idle more and make the car feel and run better. Its all in the tuner on how he tunes the system.

I have driven evos with both M2, Kelford, JUN and they dont idle bad and the driving on the street is pretty good. All these cars do not run stock ecu.

I am still running the stock BOV. And no, it's not struggling. It's modified and I don't mean crushed either. Check out dejonpowerhouse.com and look at their 1G DSM BOV stop leak kit. It works just the same on the Evo 9 and Tomei BOV as well. I boost leak tested my system with this on up to 32-33 psi with no leaks from the BOV. Only reason I had to stop is because the coupler connected to the turbo to pressurize started dropping. Other than that, no leaks.

I've actually considered the Kelford cams as well, but after some little adjustments, the car is running a little better now. Bryan ('the tuner') is still tweaking maps to see if we can't get it running even better. I'm happy with the performance of these cams, just not the driveability. It doesn't need much more to be running really good on these cams. So if it will save me the cost of the cams plus another round of installation and tuning, then I'll keep these and spend the money on E85 tuning and Maximal tuning!

^thats what i would do...get it more fined tuned and get the e85 tune, instead of buying new cams. But if you do get rid of these let me know. I know someone who wants these cams.

I won't let cams on the stock ECU beat me BGevoIX.

Only cams that I have given up on where Brian Crower Evo 9 cams, not much I can do about 40whp loss over stock cams. :-/

Tomorrow I am tackling Revolvers. If I can get those to work on the stock ECU, I can probably get anything to work.

So far on stock ECU I have tuned these cams with no issues:

Cosworth M2 (8 and 9)
Cosworth M3 (8 and 9)
GSC S1
GSC S2
HKS 264/272/280
Piper Cams
Blox
Helix
GSC standards (old style)

And a couple more I can't remember
