FRANKFURT, Germany - The automaker DaimlerChrysler AG said Friday it has sold its remaining 12.4 percent stake in Japan's Mitsubishi Motors Corp. to the U.S. investment firm Goldman Sachs Group Inc. The purchase price wasn't disclosed.

But DaimlerChrysler said the sale would boost its revenue for 2005 by some 500 million euros ($588 million).
The German-American car maker once held 37 percent of Mitsubishi Motors as part of its goal to become a global auto powerhouse, but in 2004 the company decided against pumping more money into the troubled Japanese automaker.
As a result of the deal, Goldman Sachs now becomes Mitsubishi Motors' largest shareholder with a 13.4 percent stake. Before the latest share transaction, DaimlerChrysler was Mitsubishi Motors' fourth-largest shareholder.
Mitsubishi Motors, Japan's fourth-biggest carmaker, has seen its sales in Japan plunge after acknowledging five years ago that it had systematically hidden auto defects for more than two decades to avoid recalls.
Mitsubishi Motors, also known as MMC, said current cooperation projects with DaimlerChrysler would not be affected by the share sale.
The two carmakers jointly develop and produce engines and share use of vehicle architecture. They also jointly produce passenger cars, sport utility vehicles and pickup trucks in Europe, North America, China and South Africa.
"MMC will maintain the relationship with DaimlerChrysler as business partners where both parties continue working on individual alliance projects that are mutually beneficial," the company said.
On Friday, Rudiger Grube resigned from his position on the board of directors of Mitsubishi Motors. The company gave no immediate reason.
Shares of DaimlerChrysler gained 1.8 percent to 42.72 euros ($50.25) in Frankfurt trading.

I wouldent buy a dodge product either. I dont like any thing they have built and they cant build an automatic trans to save their lives. they are useing mb trans now because of that. the biggest mistake benz ever did was takeing over chrysler. vipers are like vettes to me, if you gave me one I would sell it for the dough to be put torwards better use. like paying off my evo and my next 10 mortgage payments
some of dodge/chryslers new hot models use a signifgant amount of mb chassis designs if not reskining of mb models like the crossfire is the old slk
sorry if I came off as a hater, i just hate chrysler

Simon Elliott, Managing Director of Chrysler Group said: "The SRT-4 has been developed by Chrysler Group’s ‘Street Race Technology’ performance division. All SRT vehicles feature unique exterior details, lowered sports suspension, sports interior and a powerful engine - the all-new 2.4-litre turbocharged engine boasts a tyre-smoking 300 horsepower to deliver a level of power you’d expect from a V8!"
The SRT-4 is a performance version of the Dodge Caliber and offers 260 lb. ft. of torque from a 2.4-litre turbocharged engine to reach 0-60 mph in less than 6 seconds.

A wagon? Hahaha... that's failure before it even launches...
List of wagons that have FAILED in the sport compact market:
- PT Cruiser - only old people buy this ****
- Mazda MP5 Protege
- Toyota Matrix / Pontiac Vibe
- Chevy HHR - yeah, it's just been released but the same crowd that bought the PT Cruiser is gonna buy this piece of shiet
Chalk up this new SRT-4 as a failure in the making.

If Dodge thinks this is on the pulse of young buyers, they've completely lost touch with reality.

And what did people say when the Neon SRT-4 came out? "Nobody is gonna want to buy a Neon even if it has a turbo...". And yet 25,000 were sold on a LIMITED edition vehicle.
This thing has 300 hp and will have the capability to double that number on the stock block. Not to mention the Mopar staged turbo upgrades which will make this thing rip even harder.
I agree, the exterior of the Caliber leaves one to be desired however that SRT nameplate is what will make this baby sell like hot cakes! Mark my words!

But the thing is, Dodge isn't aiming this car towards those that currently own a srt-4 because well... they already own a srt product. Their aiming it at the segment of consumers that didn't buy the neon srt-4 and are looking for something a little different (you know... the crowd that just wouldn't dare be seen driving a neon...
).Personally I don't think it looks all that bad.
