The Evo will die when it stops evolving. In the world of Darwin, when you stop evolving, death will be at your doorstep. People that does not want the Evo to improve and change are the ones that want it to die.
i actually like the paddle shifting idea, if it will work as suppos to.
but time will tell.for the first year i will skipp to get a new X . Maybe the 2nd generation, when i will change my car for the new one.

You probably think the Bentley GT is a sportscar too

SLR :
Curb Weight: 3732 lbs
Horsepower: 671 bhp @ 6500 rpm
Torque: 575 lb-ft @ 3250 rpm
Evo: RS GSR MR
Curb Weight (lbs.) [with Sunroof]: 3219 3263[3338] 3285
Horsepower @ rpm (SAE net): 286@6500
Torque (lb-ft @ rpm): 289@3500
LB /hp wich is better?
since you kinda porsche guy , porsche 911 :
Weights: curb weight (lbs) 3,384
Power: 242 kW , 325 HP SAE @ 6,800 rpm; 273 ft lb , 370 Nm @ 4,250 rpm
so SLR 348 lb heavyer then porsce 911 ,but 346 HP more..
i just try to give some info, so you will hopefully not going to make that statement again.
if its not enough, check it out the 1/4 mile , or top speed . Braking and cornering numbers and you will be amazed what they can do today, with the 3800 lb car...

yeah ,i try to not too be rude, but saying the mercedes has no sports car a past 50 years... and calling the SLR not to be a sports car...its rude or jelous.
The Mercedes the biggest car racer company from germany. They have lots of sports cars. They even had the first type a car called EVO...
my favorit from that line was the: E 190 Evolution II
http://www.germancarfans.com/print.c...8.001/lang/eng
was a F$%k quick car. that time.

Anyways, let's not argue. We just disagree. I would like to say that I like the Mitsubishi EVO alot (that's why I'm here). I may disagree with you as to whether it's a sportscar or not (like the US street-legal Benzes of the last 50 years), but that's not important. It's a cool car, a very quick car on road or track, and a great value.
I'm not trying to be rude, nor am I jealous of almost any Benz (just not a big fan). However, I think we're getting hung up on semantics. I don't think a 190 Benz (no matter how fast and well sorted for racing) is a sportscar. It is a sedan. Isn't the "T" in DTM a reference to "Touring"?

but what do you think that fact, the Mercedes called they sedan sports car /touring/ Evolution? i think its funny how the history repeat it self.
Both is sedan has racing heritige. Made for only one purpose racing not for comfort/remember mercedes/. Both has a cartoon like body style etc...

by the way, i think any car made for sport purpose out from factory,/or engeneered for racing from factory/ we can call it a sports car.
so its not like 50 years ago when only the 2 seater car was the sports car... Now in 2007, 100 times more motorsport exists. And those sports cars can't even go thru, some of the motorsport events today.
this is my opinion and i have alots of opponent about this.
