Oh, boo-hoo. They flipped the engine around. Let's cry about it. Will the turbo on the firewall side be more of a pain to access? Probably. But why did they do it? Shorter/cheaper exhaust system, less radiant heat on the radiator, etc. So it will be a little harder to upgrade the turbo and mani. It's not the apocalypse. Half of the future X owners on here will never have to deal with wrenching in there anyway.

As for the new engine...shouldn't we be APPLAUDING mitsu for having some ***** and coming out with a new engine? Remember, your beloved 4g6x was a "new, unproven engine" once upon a time. Instead of whining about the new engine, give the thing a chance and see how it does. If it sucks (which i HIGHLY doubt), then you can whine all day long. Until then, wait and see.

The 4g6x engine is what, 17 years old now? There are members on this forum younger than that. A replacement is long overdue.

^ I agree, things must change as time flows. It's unnatural and fatal not to evolve, whether it be bacteria, animals, theory or machines.

Embrace it.

Oh no here we go again.

It's going to be a frenzy here, once the X hits showroom floors.

LOL, no. I considered it, but they have a rep for breaking a lot as well as being mistreated by their original owners.

That said, the 4g6x are great engines, but there is certainly room for improvement.

I voted for IX NOT because I hate the X but because it is the best out there RIGHT NOW.

I won't wait 1 long year to have an Evo; I wan't to drive an Evo now and the IX is it.

If the X is available for everyone to drive/buy then one can truly decide which one is better and can get it. The problem is they DON'T exist yet (for the public).

A year from now when the X come out and turned out to be no good, will one be able to get a new IX?

That's a good question -- how many new IXs will be available in 6 months? or 1 year? Last October '06 some people were predicting that IXs would not be available in February '07, and now here we are in May and dealerships around the country still have them, some in high numbers. Most appear to be selling at or below MSRP, which suggests that demand isn't that high (although dealers may just want to move them quickly to make way for X).

If I had to guess, I'd say that new IXs will be in very low numbers by October of this year and that you'd be hard-pressed to find one by Christmas.

AMEN to that.

I like the X though. It will be a good platform for tuning. As good as 4g63 engine... not sure... and its a heavy SOB but I am all for the aluminum block. Think if done right it will be fine.

The x would be the best looking yet, if they fixed the rear end and lowered the angle of the car from the front to back.
