This is why I prefer the look of chrome at the bottom of the window. I never thought that I'd say I like the look of chrome, but in this case I think it helps.

I know you can't translate one countries prices to another but thought this was interesting.

GSR SST 3,750,600.00 JPY = 32,584.04 USD
GSR 5MT 3,495,450.00 JPY = 30,378.90 USD
RS 5MT 2,997,750.00 JPY = 26,060.06 USD

If you took the JDM pricing literally as an indicator of what the USDM pricing would be, it is actually cheaper than the USDM IX MSRP pricing! I can always dream.

Cost of shipping from Japan plus import tax will raise msrp...unless they decide to build them over here since it will have the "world motor".

I suspect the X RS's steering and feel will be like the Evos of yesterday, also.
I hope your right because that would rekindle a little of what was lost on what I thought would be a muted and indirect feel at the wheel on the X from what I have read. The direct steering feel and control is exactly what I loved the most on the RS and on my later Fit. If the RS still keeps that great steering response, I might think the RS as a possibility.

It is nitpicking, just like the complaints on chrome and small things like that. About the front though, I believe they had to design it a tad higher to meet some pedestrian safety regulations or something along those lines. Anyways, those pictures are a tad bit distorted. I bet you won't be dissappointed seeing in person though. I wasn't when I first saw the regular model sitting in front of me.

Wink Japanese Press Release

Here is a link to the official Japanese press release taken from Mitsubishi's Japanese website:

http://www.mitsubishi-motors.co.jp/p...etail1682.html

I can translate more if need be, but some interesting points I got from the article are:

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X goes on sale from (today) October 1st with prices starting at $25,880.48 ~ $32,379.31. *I converted these prices with the latest exchange rates, and they do not include other taxes and fees that the Japanese will have to pay.

There will be two trims available from day one, RS and GSR...the MR version will follow at a later, unannounced, date. One more note, the Twin Clutch SST transmission will not be available (only GSR models) until the end of November. They plan on selling 4000 units by the end of 2007.

As an option there will be (taken from the Outlander) a 30gb 7" widescreen navigation system with 9 speakers, high power amp and premium sound.

Everything else has been stated on this site a thousand times over, so I won't go into anymore details. Hope this helps.

My 2 Cents.

Went to the local mitsu dealer near my house this weekend and saw some of the stock lancers w/wing and recaro seats. Very nice looking in person. I even took a girl that I am sorta dating and have been talking her ear off about this car I wanted to buy. She was impressed by the looks of the Evo (21 year old college student).

So here is two votes that it is truely a good looking ride.

I think some of the 'above' shots taken from above eyesight levels make it look kind of weird, especially with the front looking much like a great white shark.

These cars look very mean and quick, can't wait to see the evo's with the bremo's and nicer rims ;-)

cuz the US spec won't be too much heavier if at all. remember this EVO was built with the us in mind. it already has side curtain airbags (optional in japan and will be standard here) and stability control. it will pass US regulations for years to come. rear bumper may change but that won't affect weight too much i hope.

anybody know what else may be changed/added? i doubt it'd weigh 200+ lbs over the jdm spec though... hopefully

AWESOME how the EVO X is LESS expensive and weighs LESS than some thought it to be. where are those 3500lbs $40K people now? yeah i know these are JDM specs but they are the BEST indication as to what we'll get. if you think mitsu will add 200+ lbs and $8000 to the USDM then i'd say you're crazy...

has mitsu usa even confirmed that we'll get a RS trim? from what you said above it sounds like a stock gsr to me without the AYC diff. why even market that over here? i always thought the US spec RS was a useless trim because it wasn't really barebones and had stupid little things deleted to trim weight. no rear wipers, awesome weight savings... the JDM RS makes sense, the US RS is useless. it saves like 60 lbs total vs the MR, WTF? plus you have to hand crank the windows cuz you're hardcore? if mitsu is smart they won't even have the X RS over here. if they do, hope it's somewhat stripped like the JDM spec though i doubt it.

So they are still claiming the 422 nm tq figure, which equals the 311 ft/lbs, so hopefully the production numbers are higher than the 295/300 figure that was tested last week.
