Evo X is available in Japan now!
Couple things I've noticed...
- The RS doesn't appear to have projector headlights... probably no HIDs on the RS.
- I know I'm gonna hear it from people who say it ruins the Evo... but no sunroof option?
- I don't believe Japan has a MR version now do they? So it's possible the model lineup will be..
JDM = GSR 5-speed or SST, RS
USDM = GSR with 5speed, MR with SST

the JDM numbers are 276 hp/311 ft lbs. the preliminary USDM numbers are 295/300. fuel and emissions differences?
Mitsubishi Japan said the target is 4000 by end of this year in Japan. I think there will be NO problem at all, since so many tune shop already preorder, I bet its going to be a lot of EVO X on the Tokyo Auto Salon next year !!
has mitsu usa even confirmed that we'll get a RS trim? from what you said above it sounds like a stock gsr to me without the AYC diff. why even market that over here? i always thought the US spec RS was a useless trim because it wasn't really barebones and had stupid little things deleted to trim weight. no rear wipers, awesome weight savings...
the JDM RS makes sense, the US RS is useless. it saves like 60 lbs total vs the MR, WTF? plus you have to hand crank the windows cuz you're hardcore? if mitsu is smart they won't even have the X RS over here. if they do, hope it's somewhat stripped like the JDM spec though i doubt it.

Bear in mind that not all omissions are done for weight. A rear wiper just isn't needed on a race car. I think it's useless on the Evo period. I mean, I've never wished for one during any one of my thirty-plus thousand miles.
Also, who wants steel wheels, inadequate brakes, or base Lancer seats? In this regard, the USDM RS makes more sense because Enkeis shod with Advans, Brembo calipers, discs and pads, and Recaros are all prized parts that are easy to sell and make some kind of monetary return. Think of it as profitable recycling.
Again, you guys would know these things if you had been around for the good ole days. Welcome to the club.
Drive all four pre-X USDM variants and you'll feel the difference in the RS. It's anything but a useless trim. I believe it offers a purer driving experience.

Pulls foot out of mouth... Wow I hated this car and said it looked like *** from the get go. After seeing the black X I am a changed man. All that black X needs is black te37's and ohlin flags and it equals sex.
I want those X seats for my evo.

l almost forgot to mention that base IXs also have a steel roof and heavier steel trunk lid, not to mention the lack of an RS cross bar in the trunk.

Decent drive test review on C&D already. http://www.caranddriver.com/previews...gsr.html?al=92
Seems like it loses a lot in the straight to the VIII, but gains it everywhere else. This car isn't meant for a drag strip, so if you judge it by that, then I'll laugh at you over the internet Still, the test they did was not comprehensive enough to say either way. I say, let The Stig give it a go.

what I want to know is how does this stack up to the previous JDM evo's with AYC? I mean it really doesn't matter because theres not a very high chance that i'll get my hands a JDM VIII or IX but is it that much greater then the previous Evo's.
