Yeah but the only thing thats different that matters is the 6spd, and that slows down the Mr, thats why the sti ends up being slower aswell as the mr in the quarter, you shift to much.I mean its a great car but I would rather the GSR. Plus the Mr was rated the slowest between the three.

Now is the MR worth $7-9k more(including markups) for extra gear and Yellow Bilsteins & the Vortex thingy anyone can buy & install on any EVO?...dunno bout that one. For $40K+tax there are alot of car options out there. For $30ish there arent as many. My perception of the new RS is that its just as cheap on the inside as the power windowed, map lighted MR and goes just as fast. MR's make alot of $ per unit for Mitsu. Bilsteins arent the holy grail of shocks & black rims wont be in style forever. I heard a rumor ALL '06 EVO's might get the 6 speed so where will the novelty be in the '05 MR then?

The leather in the reg VIII is NICE. If the Leather CAME in the MR for the price id say MR.? Id keep the $10k and got get a CBR1000 or R1 if I had that kind of commitment to decide on.
I think you made a step up to an Evo. Some of the MBs have very poor reliability.

4G63 RACER, what are you talking about? Who gives a flyin $hit about a drag race. The MR beat every other model of Evo in a real timed race around a track. Yes, it even beat the RS, the "race model". Please, clarify what you are talking about before you just say that the MR is the slowest of the bunch. And by the way, it isn't even the slowest of the bunch in a drag race, the GSR is.

The 6spd in the MR is gear differently than the STI. The first 4 gears in the 6spd(MR) are almost identical to the 5spd. You do NOT! have to shift to 3rd in the MR to get to 60. Yes, you are pushing it to the limit but it will make it, the STI will not. Again, please do a bit of research on the matter before you say something.

^^^ True that

The problem I see in a lot of these threads is the tremedous hostility some ppl display against the MR..... Sound a lot like envy to me Every one of these strident critics that come out with BS like "the MR is the slowest" or"the MR is overpriced" or "the MR doesn't drive as well", etc., etc. are usually saying things that are totally untrue or completely turned around..... I think that before anybody makes these definitive statements about the MR, they should drive one first and compare it with the GSR or the RS..... Only then they can make an informed and educated statement. Sure, the MR is not for everybody and it's perfectly OK to prefer another car. What's not OK to to spout crap about how the MR is inferior to the other EVOs

My vote goes for the 05 RS not only because I own one but because they are lighter and more rare and have theyr'e own unique sleeper look about them.

Of course, frankly I don't think a lot of these guys even own an EVO of any kind.... Prolly the closest they ever come to a high performance car is by reading a magazine

The RS gets my vote. I drove a regular VIII and a RS back to back (after a WRX) and they both felt very nice but the RS had this "Lets carve the hell out of every corner" feel about it. The particular model I drove had ac and that was it. That's fine for me. I'd probaby throw in a deck & 4 eclipse speakers and I'm set. I don't really care for the CF wing (too much attention from the Police). I like how you can hear the stock exh note with the lack of sound deadening material.

Yes but it's not the same anymore:

1. GSR now has LSD in front to carve the corners.

2. GSR stops quicker with ABS and EBD.

3. It'd be real hard to go back to manual windows and locks.

My vote for a VIII would be an RS. Power windows doesn't really bother me too much either way. I guess you wouldn't have to worry about a switch or a motor to go out with crank windows.
