Very true and a good point but I would rather have that then the evo turn into a weak Eco car.

I hear they're adding this stock:

Yeah and at every stoplight he's going to turn to you and say "Smoke'm" or "You owe me a 10 second car".

I love how in all of these threads there is someone that brings up " the evo died after the ......"

Bottom line is that Mitsubishi's current line up is not sustainable and if they are going to be around in 2050 then everything needs to die and new models replaced. Its a clean break rather then trying to mend ties to the old cars. After all its expensive to pay the government because you cant make the CAFE standards.

C segment cars have proven too big any more. B segment is still bigger than 1993 c segment cars so it makes real sense to work on what the rest of the world is looking towards not us fat lazy Americans.

And guess what... Gas is a finite resource so it is going to cost $12.50/gallon in 10 years if you still run petrol.

The headlights are ALMOST identical to the 370z's. They are just flipped 180 degrees. It wont look near as extreme as that looks. They toned down the X concept to what it is now. ALL concepts are toned down for the street, its too grab ur attention/intrest. Except the toyota ft86, that thing is 99% identical to the concept.

new evo

I will say it again, If Mitsubishi puts a smaller displacement turbo motor (1.4 - 1.8) along with 2 electric motors (front wheels) into a smaller LIGHTER chassis I will buy it. There is no reason that a 1.7/1.8 liter motor can't put out 250 hp combined with 2x62 hp electric motors (for a total of 374hp) in a chassis that weighs 600 lbs less than the current car. This type of hp to weight would produce some highly Evolved performance figures not to mention much better in city fuel economy.
Bring on a 350+ hp AWD four door colt that weighs in at 3000lbs or less!

I don't think you will ever see a sub-3400 lb Evo or anything else. Everyone screams "why did they make the X so damn heavy?!?" which is actually the same question as "Why does a Prius only get 42 mpg when Geo Metros were doing it in the late "80's?!?".
A Geo Metro only weighed like 2000 lbs. Today, with all of our gubmint mandated safety standards (side impact beams, multiple air bags, tire pressure monitoring systems, etc, etc) it is not possible to make cars that hold 4 people and don't weigh ~3500 lbs.
Mitsu didn't make the X heavy because they are A-holes, they did it because those who protect us from ourselves MADE them do it.

The weight can be below 3400 lbs. The feature ladden porsche 911 weighs in at 3270 and the Lotus Evora weighs in at under 3000 lbs and the next 911 hybrid 2.0 with batteries weighs in at 2850 lbs. both have rear seats and big heavy 3.5, 3.6 and 3.8 liter sixes with all the technology and airbags you could want.

Sure, if you are willing to spend the money, you can do anything. But you will not see anything close to the Evo price point at those kind of weights. How much does that sub 3000 lb Porsche cost again? And how many will they make?

The Porsche's will run between $70k and $100k but are based on a $70k car and require days to complete manufacture, hence the 70k + price. The new evo could be based on a $13k colt platform with another $20k in upgrades AND be produced in hours not days. We know that mitsu would use lower quality interior plastics and switch gear than the porsche as well as lower spec tech. It wouldn't need to be a $40k+ car.
