yeap this might be the case... maybe they release the AWC Lancer ES with Ralliart front bumper? thankfully I got rid of my Ralliart, cuz that would've pissed me off if it were to happen

Is this the same AWD as the previous gen Evo's? ACD but no AYC right? Or will this be a viscous center?

Just curious is all....

You guys should goto Mitsubishi Japan's website... they have the AWD models listed there as they've existed in Japan for years. Sounds like Mitsubishi is just planning to bring them here now... it's not as if they are a new product.

I wonder why Mitsu waited so long tho... Aren't we only two models years away from the end of the current Lancer life cycle?

The Sportbacks in the UK, regardless of trim level, have the Ralliart grill and bumper. I think it looks better and wished my GTS here had it.

Doesn't the AWD in the Evo and Ralliart have 3 diff's and is a lot of maintenance and gas mileage suckage?

I bet it's gonna be a simpler unit like the ones in japan.

Just to let u guys know the newest issue of MotorTrend has info saying the "GTS will become a GT, with the RA front bumper"
Small changes will be done to the interior trim material (eg. "softer" fabric)...

not sure how reliable MotorTrend is tho...

why didn't the sportback ever come in a 5spd? It pisses me off that they're excluding those of us who want to start a family that need the extra room but still dont want to cut their ********* off driving a auto. It sucks enough that you have to give up your toy for the sake of your family but cant drive a car you still want to drive that can accomodate your new lifestyle? I'm sad to see it go but even more sad that it was never offered in a 5spd...which is why i still haven't bought one..

Ahh if you did your research before posting you would see that the base ES comes only in manual and the bit more powerful GTS has an manual option. So yeah.

Sportback`s do come in 5speed Manuals. You can get them in SE and GT Trims for 2011.

2012 Mitsubishi Lancer/Evo/Sportback

"What's New: The ES gets new fabric, wheel covers, and chrome grille, while the SE is now an AWD model. The Lancer GTS has been renamed GT and gets a Ralliart-style front fascia, new 18-inch wheels, new fabric, and soft touch door trim. The GSR gets a new upshift light indicator on the center display, while the MR gets an ECO light indicator."

Is it known yet whether this is Evo-like AWD or some other on-demand AWD?

So now you have the basic car frame, basic suspension, basic shocks, yet AWD and a weaker 4B11. For such a cheap price that's not bad if a few more ponies could be had....

Is anything stopping you from throwing a built motor in there with a turbo? Weaker halfshafts? Weak differentials? Weak transmission or t-case? Obviously it won't be an Evo but I'm curious if people are modding these over in Japan?

I have an Evo, but I want to make sure I understand the differences and weak points of the AWD system in the Lancer.

I'm pretty sure the SE with AWD only comes with the CVT trans.

I don't know if anyone will know that until they try. Even if they are doing certain things in japan, things will almost certainly be different for safety standards and emissions alone.
