2012 Release Date
The new Porsche 911 (991) will not be a hybrid. At least not for at least the mid-cycle facelift (4 years from now) and even then it will only be an optional model along with all the gasoline-only versions.
A hybrid version could be a good thing for the upcoming Evo's. It's not like local gas stations are continuing to sell 93 octane or higher and if they do, they'll just offset it with ethanol to increase the octane settings. Fortunately, over here we still have 93 octane, but it has 10% ethanol in it. I can't say for certain if 93 octane will stll be available 10 years from now.
By the way, according to Road & Track, the 2012 Evo X will not have any major changes from the 2011.

thanks atombomb for that find. So in terms of "major", things like a 6 speed or body/engine change are in doubt. Still a chance that a option becomes standard or a minor trim piece is altered. I still want the official press release before I go get a discounted 2011. It is hard not to run out today and buy it but I know if I do that the 12 will have something I like..murphy's law kinda...anyone else in the same boat here?..waiting for october sucks
i have an evo coming for me in September. No idea when the 13 is comminig out. prolly get the 2012 now and see what the 2013 is going to be like. I always like to have the latest and greatest.
Suprised the eclipse is done for though.

the evo hybrid, if there will be one will be cvt not dct. since it will be electric/gas powered(turbo like the cayenne hybrid). there will be auto/stop, meaning the engine stops instead of idling and acceleration will be a combination of electric and gas/turbo which could be faster. if mitsu is really serious about it, look at the specs of the cayenne hybrid and it will close to it. fast and yet economical. way to go mitsu IF this is your plan!
