Evo XI Concept Renderings, Spyshoots, Teasers
Haha, I just hate how in every one of these threads, there is someone that injects their opinion (and furthermore, an opinion that looks flatout wrong) that there will be no new EVO.
It's fine if you say, "I think it will be weak, strong, diesel, hybrid...blah blah blah", but it pisses me off we people lack standard reading comprehension. There are numerous articles stating Mitsu plans on launching the EVO XI. This thread is about what it can look like, not whether you think it will exist. [/rant]

The quality of some of this work is outstanding
others... no so much, looks like some undergraduate work or something.
Hopefully this is something I hope to be jumping into in the next year for graduate school!
I'd really like the concepts if they got smaller again, I know it's hard to do with so many new crash-regulations being added but everything is getting huge and bulky

I don't see any hybrid/electric or diesel technology coming, it will most likely just be a gas engine single turbo 4 cylinder, super heavy like the Evo X and will further increase the value and fanboyism of the EVO VIII and EVO IX
it's the same as how Chevrolet has been saying forever, "we're gonna make a big V6 twin turbo vette!" or "this year we might make a 3.0L V8 twin turbo power plant!" and it's always a bigger V8 because that's what people demand, those who actually buy the car new, (not 99% of you commenting on a car you really don't get to contribute to since you buy them used) don't like change, they want the stuff that works to stay the same and improve and will only accept changes in the comfort department apparently...and it's the same with all sports cars, no honda owner is going to beg for a V6 civic, no vette buyer is going to beg for a small V8 and the deletion of instant torque and a smooth torque curve and no EVO buyer is going to beg for electric motors and diesel engines, this isn't a mercedes...

The fuel system of a diesel is very similar to the fuel system of a direct injection gas engine. I would not be surprised if the next EVO is offered with higher compression GDI. I'm secretly hoping they bump up the displacement a little since the 4B11 has been around long enough for them to shake out the weaknesses and improve the design. But you never know. There are several areas that can be improved so the next generation can continue to evolve.
Giving the people what they want is how the Eclipse became bloated and slow over the years. I'm sure it's a fine car but it's not exciting. The EVO needs to capture the imagination of the tuner/race crowd even if the buyer doesn't mod it at all. Every brand needs a flagship model, and the flagship needs to lead the way with a strong presence.
