I dont think you realize this but the only reason the x got 4b11T is because the 4g63 couldn't be revise anymore and couldn't pass emission standards, japan has even more strict emission standard then we do, that engine has been in the Mitsubishi family well over 20 years and been use in well over 20 different platforms, Mitsubishi don't tend to change stuff unless they really have too

Sports cars need to be fuel efficient for both marketing appeal, and the emissions standard passed down by the government. Also, from a competitive angle, it'd be tough to sell a 4 door 4 cylinder car with lower gas mileage than an equally priced high tech 8 cylinder C6. The bar has been set high, and Mitsu either has to find a way, or the Evo will go the way of the dinosaur.
