Next Evo to be 500 hp to rival GT-R
Note that Mitsubishi isn't even showing a Lancer or derivative at the Tokyo show. Based on that press release, it looks like they are going to become a niche* manufacturer akin to Jeep.
Adios, Evo.
* more so than they already are...

*which is, you guessed it right, Lancer.
Which can only mean that Evo will become different entity. Or out of existing 19 models, it will be in 6 more that will get axed. I guess we need another press rally.
In case you missed it, there is mutual statement of RNA and MMC that they will make new C segment car* together.

They need to sell more cars (obviously) and are too far behind Corrollas, Civics, Elantra's or Camry's, Accords and Sonata's to catch up.
Those are bread and butter cars....not the evo. When they can sell alot of small and midsize cars, that makes the profit to build niche cars like the evo
Their only option at this point seems to be to downsize even more or build niche cars for another car company. Though the car buying culture of the 90's and early 00's is gone. Little interest now in STi's Evo's 350Z and RX8's.
Pretty soon it will be autonomous cookie cutter cars with stickers as the only modified part.
IF you have an evo take care of it and be thankful. It's the only thing that Mitsu can say "wow, we kicked *** making this car"
WTF is this? How low can they go?

My dealer is selling more used cars now than new evo's. Basically it's a used car dealer lot that says Mitsu in the front

For the Evo to move so far out of it's current price range would be disappointing. There are so few cars that provide what Evos and STIs do that it'd really be a shame for it to move out of the range of current and would be owners pockets.
