I talked to a saes rep at the same dealership I bought my Evo from and he said that they were expecting ONE MR in Sept. or Oct. He actually seemed very knowledgable about it to my surprise, and I made sure we were talking about the MR NOT the RS. he said that as far as he knew, the price wouldn't be much more than a regular Evo, about $31-33K. I asked him if they were going to mark it up or other bull$h!t, and he told me they never do that. I guess that's why the sticker price for my Evo was $29,999 even with the wing. From what I've read on the forum here, that's reasonably low. A funny side note, he was very surprised I had even heard about the MR yet not to mention knew the details about it. He said I was the first person to even inquire tem about one, so he said I had dibs on it, being that I'm a return customer. Hope he was telling me the truth!!!
I went to the dealership today for my first service on my EVO and talked to the guy who sold it to me. He said they think they will be getting their 1st MR in October and already have one person who has put a deposit down on a MR. He wasn't able to give me a price on one. As far as whether I will get a MR when they get here.......it depends on the price.
Don't worry it will soon be here
But not any time soon
It will be a 2005 model which will come out next year no sooner than January and as late as October 2005!
And it will only have 281 HP
Very limited production Only 800
In this case the MR being so rare the Msrp does not exist. It may say 35,000 But every dealer will try to sell it with a loud mark up

The real question is does the new AYC / ACD system in the EVO going to need the 5000mile differential oil changes?
I think I might change out, really depends on the trade in value I can get and the price for the MR, I really would like to have 6-speed and a front LSD.

I just bought my Evo about a month ago.Just got done breaking it in,well,my wife did.I had her drive it til it clicked over 2K because I knew I would beat it.I seen the MR on the cover of that magazine a week after I bought my car and was pretty pissed because I would have waited for it.If I can sell my car for what i owe on it which is highly unlikely unless someone in Cali is wanting one badly in which i would deliver it.But i want the MR!!Not because its so much better because i dont think it is.I just want one to say I got one.Trying to talk my wife into taking my Evo for her car and buying one anyways.Thats not going to good. She wants the MR!!Just to say she has one and i dont.I think thats grounds for divorce.
I dont understand this "If I do this to my Evo, then it will be better than the MR" argument. Sure my Vishnu package makes my Evo faster than a stock MR but what's keeping me from running the MR with the XEDE and Xflash (along with the exhausts and cams) ? Strip my car to make it lighter ? Well, the MR can be stripped down too for even more weight savings.
Point is, you are starting from a better base to build on. If funds were available for me, this would be a no-brainer.

It is a no-brainer. But people want to feel comfortable with what they bought and will fight tooth and nail to justify their purchase. I love the 03 evo. I had a chance to ride in a 325 whp evo and it blew me away. But then I think of the MR with those same mods and it makes me salivate. These next 6 mos(?) waiting are going to be very hard

Well, I got a 2003 for 28000+tt&l 2 1/2 months ago. I am sure that the MR offers better performance, but for me it is not necessary. I think it is a matter of driving styles. For instance, first came the Porsche boxster, then a while later the boxster s. Chevy came out with the new vette then the z06. Does anyone think that the boxster and vette (base models) are poor cars because of this?? I understand wanting the newest and best model there is, but at what cost? If the mr gains some performance over my 03, great, EVOLUTION is occurring. I still feel that I am not willing to take a 6-8k loss on my car just for an MR. I guess if you seriously track the car or live in a rural area where you can exceed the limits of the 03 or 04, the MR is for you. I personally can hardly ever exceed 100% out of my evo on public roads (esp. in the congested NE traffic), so it does not make a lot of sense for me. If I did not own a evo and was in the market, the MR would be nice, but for most of us on this board that is not the case. I owned a 90 eclipse gs turbo until 96 and still enjoyed the hell out of that car when the new eclipse model came out, it is what you make of it imho. Well, enough of my crap, I am going to stay happy with my evo until I pay it off in 2-3 years then look at the newest EVOLUTION in evos there is ( and be prepared for a better model to come out after I purchase that one and on and on..........)

It makes perfect sense that mits will have three evo models, since they have just announced their intentions of becoming a primarily performance oriented manufacturer. Go with what works, and they do well with performance cars. There are significant rumours of mits expanding the evo line to include other models, ala BMW with M, Audi with S, etc.
I'll keep my WORKS equipped evo. Would make no sense to loose the money of trading up, as it were. I'll pay this off and dillegently save for the Skyline in 07, and still keep the Evo of course!
