MR in the New SCC
easy there...we were speaking in generalities. obviously, not every dealer will try to gouge their customers with add-ons. the point was (as i said) MOST dealers suck.
p.s. i put a deposit down 6 weeks ago for an MR from a dealer i trust....but thanks for the advice.

The improved skid pad numbers quoted by R&T seem dubious...0.88 to 0.98 ?!? I'm really hoping ACD can do that, and no doubt the lower center-of-gravity helps too...but an almost 12% increase in lateral g's is hard to believe.

I am surprised you don't get the "BIG" picture. Have you notice we "Americans" always get the watered down or completely different products than the Europeans and Japanese. Its because car makers always think "we" don't deserve hard core products and American don't know what performance is, so sell them luxury dumbed down version to "please" us.
Car makers are right all these year. Its whiner like Misterzx3 who represent the mainstream American consumers, demanding option, demanding comforts, demanding something that is totally irrevelant to the origin and root of the vehicles.
I am very pleased with Subaru and Mitsubishi who dare to break the tradtion and really import their almost JDM spec STI and EVO into the country. For god sake, we waited 8 plus generations for the awesome MR. And now, you see some whiner complaining about the lack of moonroof and cruise control for a rally homologation replica. And when alot people like that complaining about stupid stuff like that, manufactuers will take notice and once again "changing" the product and tailor it for the American market.
Please look at the past and you will see how many super cars were butchered by the car maker when they brought them into the country.
For example, 1985-1989 Merkur Xr4ti was imported into the US. In UK, they got the Cosworth Sierra RS500. The US version got the stupid Ford Pinto 2.3 OHV 8v non intercooled 175hp motor. The Sierra had the Cosworth tuned 16v DOHC intercooled 224hp motor and in tuned form, it delivers 550+hp. The Merkur line in US was marketed as luxury sedan and the Sierra RS was marketed as Group A homolagation special. I still bought the Merkur and imported the sierra kit from UK because i was so in love with Group A racing at the time. Another example is the US E36 M3, it has the 240hp tuned 325i type motor and the rest of the world has the 300hp+ race motor. Other examples are 190e 2.5 evolution II, Audi RS4, Lexus IS200 turbo, Skyline, Civic 200hp SI etc.....
I really don't want to rob you. Please go to your BMW and Mercedes dealer first and see if you see any non-moonroofed 330i or higher Bimmer or C240 or higher Mercedes. And please also visit your porsche dealer, i can give you $10,000 if you can find a bone stock boxster or 911 without bunch of useless options.
Tanner is right and like I mentioned before, it might not be possible to special order a limited production vehicle. If my dealer is right, only 800 MRs are going to be produced and in a very short production time frame, some dealer will get none, some will get 1 to 5 max. Consumer will be forced to buy whatever dealers have. And I bet you if there is moonroof option, dealers will gladly at it on. It really has nothing to with the demand. Its because from the start, Mitsubishi already know EVO MR is going to be appealing to a very small group of consumer. If Mitsubishi think there will be 500,000 buyers lining up for the MR, do you think they will make 800 of them?

As far as I know, the moonroof is a FACTORY option anyway. So the dealer has no choice over whether or not they can install a moonroof. That's how it was with the '03's (and the '04's, I guess).
I don't think the MR will get the moonroof. Like many have mentioned, it defeats the purpose of having an aluminum roof, and seeing how it is not offered as a factory option elsewhere in the world, they probably won't tailor a custom tailor a MR with a moonroof for US shores. Much like how cruise control has never been offered on an Evo anywhere in the world - it is unlikely we will see it here as well.

the improved g numbers should mostly come from tires (tires are more sticky on the mr, and we do get those tires) and suspension (dampers are adjustable and tuened, we do get that), increased loading response ect. ayc doesn't do that much for g rating does it? it just decreases grip angle by messing with wheel power distro in turn, not by making more grip. it results in faster turns ect, but not more grip.

I know from personal experience that the Supra we received was more powerful than the JDM version. The US version had a slightly bigger steel turbined turbo while the JDM one had a quicker spooling ceramic turbine one.

True, some "super" cars did made it here, but we still don't get the most extreme edition or more advanced or highly evolved model. There are factory tuned higher end Supra, NSX, RX-7, Civic, Integra, Legacy, etc... that were only available in Japan or Europe. Most if not all of the time, we get the standard trim level, whereas Japanese consumers can buy all those suped up type S, Type zero, type RS, type Z or whatever straight from the facotry.
I am really really happy for Mitsubishi getting it right this time (except no S-AYC), and I guess I am just too afraid that we are getting a "USDM Lancer Transformation" instead of a true "Lancer 8.5 MR".
