Wow.. I'm not the only one who would spring for SMT.. I thought I was a loner on that front..

If they they offered an MR with optional SMT, optional cruise control, optional alcantara, and an optinal sunroof, It would be in the garage right now as my ultimate daily driver with all options, IMHO. Then it would make it easier to decide on getting an RS for the weekend..

Sssweeeeeeeet! I can't believe this is happening. I really can't. I thought our chance of getting SAYC was about the same as Mitsu volunteering to replace all our OEM clutches with Cusco twin carbons under warantee. Well, now it looks like it is at least a possibility that we can ache for. I can't wait to see if this thing is really coming. If it does...I'm going to be on the front-lines figuring out how to make it bulletproof. There has to be a lot of work done in that regard already...overseas...no?

Adjustable wing

Cabo
The picture they show in the Evo VIII US manual is that of the Evo VII wing not the Evo VIII, as the Evo VII had the external covers on the outside of the vertical supports, which are removed to expose the wing adjustment nuts.

The dealer I went to said the same thing, and was infact telling his customers to drill the rivets out to remove the internal CF supports to expose the adjusting nuts, I asked to look at an evo 8 US manual cause my common sense told me different after just looking at the wing construction and I confirmed that after reading the manual, I told the guy that all those people you just told about the 8 having an adjustable wing are now going to try and claim on the warranties cause they just damaged their wings, after something you told them and they are going to take your word for it as you work for Mitsubishi, I told him you are an idiot, You should have seen the look of horror on his face when he realised I was right.

as i understand it the Japan MR's still have the IC sprayer... Mitsu USA stated they need to get rid of the IC sprayer for packaging of the ACD.. how does the IC sprayer have anything to do with packaging of the ACD?

i bet were getting the AYC as many people said that the ACD works with the AYC and as the orginal poster has found the AYC parts in his catalog... Mitsu USA probably dont know that the AYC is part of the ACD .. especially since they have never heard of AYC out here

I heard you have to change the AYC fluid like every 3,000 miles or so. Is this true.

here in europe the evo's first real inspection is after 10'000miles and the following about with 20'000miles i don't belive that they change all the tansmission fluids earlier so neither the ayc fluid

do never belive evo driving is cheap (here 1gallon fuel is about $4.3!!!)

I've been mulling this over a lot. Although I was very excited about the possibility of the SAYC coming over in the MR, I again think it's about as likely as twin-disk cusco clutches being provided under warantee. We're not getting the SAYC (or the AYC)...and no, you don't need the SAYC to have the ACD. The SAYC and ACD do work together (through computer coordination) but there's no need, I don't think, to have the SAYC in order to have the ACD. We're getting the ACD per all the new stats, and there is no mention anywhere of the SAYC. Not likely they'd release the ACD info and keep the SAYC info a "big secret". Just aint happenin'...No AYC.

Note: the new STI is going to have AYC too....therefor I doubt it has anything to do with "laying one" on Subaru. Maybe they're even adding it to keep up with them.

From what I understand the suby is not getting "yaw control" but a "yaw sensor" is being added to the current set-up. To help in aid of yaw characteristics. That is the way I understood it, from reading about it( I think it was automobile magazine). The yaw control set up is a totally different differential from the current one on the Evo.

Also how is Mitsubishi tryin to keep up with them in terms of technology? When the Evo pretty much puts the smack down on the STI, when it is the lower powered car and no ACD. I think it is the other way around, suby is trying to keep up with mits(in terms of technology and "rawness" behind the STI). Since suby doesn't have as stiff of a chassis as the evo they try to make up with the electronic toys and more power. But....! when you add these toys to the already super stiff evo chassis you get unbelivable "controlability" and "driveabilty." Which will just rape the STI.
