Ah.. Well thanks for sharing the info. Barnes & Nobles probably had it in the back but didn't offer to go get me a copy, they had no Motor Trend on the shelves.. I'll just have to wait a bit to go pick it up..
I'm kind of surprised at the weight, must be the ACD and 6 spd. I wonder what the 05 GSRs will weigh.
I'm guessing there is still no official info on MSRP as well?

While the AYC on evos will actually send more power to wheels with most traction, making it a positive force rather than a negative one.

No surprise on MT picking the Evo. They love the car and would probably pick it even if it didn't win any of the performance specs just because the seats are so awesome.

Getting the '05 MR down to the '04 RS's weight is trivial.

I think it was Motor Trend who got exactly 3263 with both the STI and Evo last time around as well, so the numbers are probably right on. I'm surprised with how much the ACD must weigh.

Motor Trend estimates the MSRP to be $34,900 for the MR. Due to the ECU mapping and more torque over a wide area, there is far less turbo lag than current Evos. Weird, though. It gains 5 HP from a bigger exhaust housing, but the boost is also upped to 20.3 psi.? Seems like it should be more than 5 HP.
It should be noted, though, that the only reason the MR tied the 0-60 times is because the STi tops out at 58mph in 2nd gear, so a shift to 3rd was necessary. The MR hit 60 in 2nd gear.
The MR has some built-in 2 stage rev limiter. Any time the clutch is pressed in, the limiter drops to 5K rpms. So that might hurt drag racing, depending on how the driver launches. I don't see it as a down side, though, since the MR isn't really a drag car. It might be good for a no-lift-to-shift feature.
Although the MR beat the STi in every test they did, they said the STi was much easier (and fun, in some cases) to drive. They also said the STI seemed a good bit slower than previous STi's they've tested. The MR put down 239 HP, whle the STI put down 233 HP.
