P0201 Code with UTEC

I've got this P0201 code as soon as I installed an UTEC. I've done a search and found that it is injector circuit problem. Could it be UTEC related? Has anyone seen it?

I can confirm that it is UTEC related. I unplugged everything and went back to OEM ECU alone, everything is back to normal and I can not replicate the CEL again. With teh UTEC installed, the CEL will be triggered within 2-3 cycle of starting and stopping the engine.

One more thing I realized is that the CEL ligth is so much dimmer with the UTEC than without, is it normal? Or is it a sign of weak circuit somewhere?

If it's a defected unit, how do I proceed with the warranty? Should I contact the retailer or should I contact TurboXS directly?

What version of the UTEC firmware is it? BTW that just doesn't sound right, I've never gotten a CEL like that before..

just a dumb question, when you turn the ignition on, did you wait a second or two before cranking the motor? If not, try waiting a few seconds before you crank it, see if that helps. On my car i occasionally can catch the UTEC while its booting, so I usually wait until the CEL light flashes to my map # before I crank the engine.

It's v1.7 preloaded.

Yes, I've done that. Itbecame my habit to wait for the fuel pump to initial before I crank.

I just bought this until from the board vendor www.rallysportdirect.com I've just emailed them and hope to hear from them soon. I guess I will try to contact TurboXS first thing on Monday. I just want to get this resolved ASAP... it's tough to live without power.

How often do we see a defective UTEC though? They seem to be very reliable by reading the forums... may be I am just so lucky enough to receive one of the very few bad unit

Yep, but defective units do happen, either an electrical zap, or just bad components.. I can tell you for certain that defective units do turn up.. I have "bench units" that I use to develop my software with.. They were unservicable defective units (scrap) that were functional CPU's but didn't work right due to some components preventing it from handling signals correctly..

TurboXS stands behind their products, its likely when you talk to them they will want the serial number off the unit, then they will want you to reflash it with the 1.7 firmware again and reload your maps and reset your parameters, then they will likely have you ship it back for them to test it and service it.

Talked to Rallysportdirect and they handled the return/exchange for me with TurboXS. They were very nice and easy to deal with the warranty. They will send me a new replacement unit and they will also send out a call tag for the defective unit, so everything is now going as smooth as it can be. I am now hoping to see a replacement unit at my door before the weekend.

Question

Mine has always thown CEL's since I have installed it. If I take it out I never get a CEL. After driving a little bit with the utec it will always come on. The guys at TXS said they have no idea why it is doing this but it should not be a problem. Mine also came loaded with the 1.7firmware. Is it not good to be driving with the CEL light on all the time?

Do you know what code you get? You might want toscan it and find out what it is.

I am still waiting for my UTEC to come back, but it should be here next Tuesday... I am counting days... time seems to go so slow without an UTEC
